Hello.
I’m looking for an unusual boys name.
My other son is Millen and I’m in love with Cairn for my boy on the way...
My other half isn’t as keen.
Feel like we have heard all the other names Confused

my Nephew is called Hector. At first it got a few odd looks but now he is here and has such a personality it just suits him. I realise in some parts of the world Hector is not unusual but I have never personally come across a Hector

Have you thought about looking at Native American names? They are unusual and some are really lovely.

Angus, Hugo and Munro are all nice names.

I know an adult Cairn, actually, in his 30's. He's a terrific person, actually, so I'm fairly positive about the name.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 22/01/2018 00:07

One too many actuallys there.

ErrantBakedBean · 22/01/2018 10:44

I quite like Aurey, meaning golden-haired.

Evelynismyformerspyname · 22/01/2018 10:58

Arlo isn't unusual exactly - its top 50. It's a trendy one which was unusual 5 years ago but isn't any more.

Cairn is definitely going to make a lot of people think of a grave, because a cairn is a pile of stones marking a grave and most people will only ever have heard that word used to mean that.

As your first child has a surname as a first name what about Channing or Hendrix or Cooper. I wouldn't go for them myself but the associations are pleasanter than a grave marker.

I think most people would associate Cairn with Scotland as in we have a mountain called Cairn o mount rather than the grave meaning.

Thanks for the suggestions guys x
