What do you think of Scarlett?

Having a little girl in a couple of months, all being well, but we cannot agree on any names!! Scarlett is about the only one we both like.

I loved it when I was younger, as I loved "gone with the wind", but then Scarlett johansen came along and made it all popular Angry

Do your kids know lots of little Scarletts? What do you think of it as a name?

Thank you!!

My 6 year old has a Scarlett in her class, other than that we don't know any others. I love the name.

notacooldad · 17/01/2018 18:34

I know two little Scarlett's.
It's a lovey name.

MikeUniformMike · 17/01/2018 18:34

It's not too popular and is not too out there. I'd say it was fine.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 17/01/2018 18:35

I know one, I don't think it's overly popular and its a lovely name

CormoranStrike · 17/01/2018 18:47

I know two, and they live 400 miles apart.

IncidentalAnarchist · 17/01/2018 18:48

I’m not keen but massively prefer the Scarlet spelling. Scarlett makes my eyes hurt

nuffsenuff · 17/01/2018 18:51

I don't like the scar shortening

StellaTins · 17/01/2018 19:32

I find the scar bit unappealing

Ponshuspirate · 17/01/2018 19:33

I love it, it's a very pretty, feminine name.

Rebeccaslicker · 17/01/2018 19:35

Thanks everyone!! Completely agree with scar - would Lettie/leti work as a nickname, do you think?

I love it ! ❤️

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 17/01/2018 19:38

I know a Scarlet. She's 6. Sometimes people call her scarly but not often. Its a gorgeous name in my opinion but much refer the one T spelling.

SwinginFromTheChandelier · 17/01/2018 19:49

I wouldn't say the revival was down to Miss johansson

My son has 1 Scarlet and 1 Scarlett in his year of 60.

I'm a teacher and would say the trend is 1 child every other year out of 3 form year group.

So it's not really common but definitely heard of. Yes, Lettie would work!

AnyaMoondial · 17/01/2018 20:01

I know one, she's 2yo. She's a really nice little girl and she suits her name. Her mum gets a bit cross when people call her 'scar' though.

nooka · 17/01/2018 20:07

Lettie seems a more likely shortening to me. Popularity wise it looks like it peaked in 2013 and is on a downward trend now: names.darkgreener.com/#scar

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 17/01/2018 20:12

🤔I'm not keen. I don't like the harshness of the Scar sound. All I hear is scar and that conjures up all kinds of images. What about Juliette?? Similar, but softer.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 17/01/2018 20:12

Or Juliet, even nicer.

Scrumptiousbears · 17/01/2018 20:19

I have a Scarlett so it's a yes from me.

mondler · 17/01/2018 20:50

I never used to be a fan but it's really grown on me recently. Very pretty.

Rebeccaslicker · 17/01/2018 21:02

Ah, I love Juliet but DP has vetoed it. Honestly, he vetos everything I like Angry - and he wants Aggie!!!!

If DS was a DD she would have been Scarlett/Lettie

ChocolateCrunch · 17/01/2018 21:04

I like it. I know 2, one aged 4, the other 7, both always called by their full names.

LaughingLlama · 17/01/2018 21:05

I know a 16yo Scarlet known as Kettle to her school friends.

LaughingLlama · 17/01/2018 21:07

Lettie NOT KettleShock damn predictive text/auto correct!!

Snowbelled · 17/01/2018 21:07

I know two scarlets. Nice name.
