We're really struggling to find names we both like. It's taken me weeks to get a shortlist, and most of these DH has deemed 'only ok'. Her middle name will be Jane. Any suggestions I can put to DH very much appreciated!
So far our shortlist is:

Lucy
Holly
Aurelia
Rachel
Rebecca
Eleanor
Tara
Victoria
Eloise
Katie
Rose
Louisa
Hazel

Thank you! x

I love the name Eleanor. I'd like that if my next is a girl. Your dp sounds like mine when it comes to names. We finally agreed on Harriet. :)

Bubble04 · 17/01/2018 20:31

@Isitwinteryet Eleanor is my favourite but can't seem to persuade DH... Sad

Out of interest... DH's current favourite is Aurelia. How would you pronounce it? Worried it would be lumbering her with pronunciation frustration.

He says Au-ray-lee-ah

Is he right or is it au-ree-lee-ah?

I love Heather, Eleanor, Hazel and Holly- great list OP.

Others could be Mae, Leah, Jasmine, Robyn, Zoe.

Rose is lovely but doesn't quite work with Jane, Could you go for Rosemary Jane or Rosa Jane and shorten to Rose? You wouldn't use middle name for day-to-day stuff.

Aurelia is pretty written down but I wouldn't have a clue how to pronounce it!

Isitwinteryet · 18/01/2018 01:20

Yeah mine neither.

I read it as your husband says.

Bubble04 · 21/01/2018 13:05

Actually managed to get DH on a baby names site and now have a few extras!

Lucy
Holly - DS1's favourite
Aurelia - pronunciation is putting me off
Rachel
Rebecca
Eleanor - love this but DH not as keen
Victoria - like it but don't like nn Vicky
Eloise - DS2's suggestion
Katie/Kate
Rose
Louisa
Hazel
Amber
April - can I use this if she's born in June?
Amelia - love it but popularity puts me off.
Laura
Lillia
Natalie - like it but is it too 80's?
Heather

Not sure if this was helpful or just confused more! Naming babies is hard!!! X

How about Amelie, not as common as Amelia but beautiful?

Bubble04 · 21/01/2018 13:35

Ooh, I do like Amelie! I'll suggest that to DH. Thank you x

We've shortened our list, but still searching for the name we love... still open to any/all suggestions. Just have no idea! Middle name is still Jane.

Rebecca
Eleanor
Eloise
Katherine/Katie/Kate
Hazel
April
Heather

DH has suggested Madeleine, which I love, but he's worried about the link to Madeleine McCann (he's got OCD, and worries constantly about our DC's security, and is quite superstitious), would this bother anyone? I think once it's your babies name that's the person you think of when you say the name, so won't be a problem, but he's not sure.

Flora Jane
Stephanie Jane
Marta Jane
Alice Jane
Reva Jane
Margy Jane
Abby Jane
Meredith Jane

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 10/03/2018 15:28

April is a pretty name, from your revised list.
April Jane.

Bubble04 · 10/03/2018 17:29

I love April too, and it's a very rare one that my DH likes. My 2 boys aren't as keen though...

Eleanor Jane is gorgeous
Madeleine is also really nice

WashingMatilda · 10/03/2018 17:53

I like these choices!
If it helps at all, I really wouldn't worry too much about how it 'goes' with the middle name.
How often do we actually say our full names? If you find a name that you both love but you feel it doesn't 'go' with the middle name I wouldn't let it put you off.

How about

Maisy
Milly
Matilda
Imogen
Amelia
Alice
Harriet
Polly
Pippa

I'm not sure about a PP's suggestion of 'Nora Jane' as it just reminds me of Norma Jean which was Marilyn Monroe's real name.

toobreathless · 10/03/2018 20:19

I have a Hazel Jane aged 6.

Love most of your options especially Louisa.

Sophronia · 10/03/2018 23:07

I like Louisa and Rachel

Susannah Jane?

TenThousandSpoons · 11/03/2018 10:06

Hazel is gorgeous, glad to see it still on the shorter list! V underused pretty but strong name and if she has hazel eyes, perfect!

Bubble04 · 11/03/2018 11:04

@TenThousandSpoons yes, pretty sure she'll have hazel eyes. DH and both DS's have them. Only me with blue... Toss up as to whether her hair will be brown or ginger. I do love Hazel. I'm not particularly girlie or 'pink'. More of a woodland/nature theme in the nursery... Hazel seems to fit. Just need to work on the DH (or wait till the birth then he'll give me my own way regardless) 😂

TinyRick · 11/03/2018 11:15

Hazel for sure.

Was vetoed by my DP so please use it Grin

TenThousandSpoons · 11/03/2018 11:21

Hazel was vetoed by my dh too! Told my dd and she loves it so it was a shame not to use it. Sounds like it could be the one for you OP.
