Tabitha

Yes or no? Just can't decide between this and Matilda. Like the fact that Tabitha is less common as seem to hear Matilda a lot when at toddler groups. Also I want to use middle name Alice for family reasons and our surname begins with D so not sure I can use the initials 'mad'.

I think I'm having a boy anyway so probably won't be an issue but want to be prepared!

Personally I prefer Matilda of those two.
If I wanted a 3-syllable name beginning in T I'd choose Tallulah!!

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 12/01/2018 16:53

Tabitha is lovely.

I like Matilda too, but think it is having a moment.

I dislike Tallulah for no other reason than I’m not keen on the lool sound in the middle.

ChocolateCrunch · 12/01/2018 16:58

Tabitha is one of my favourite names. Have yet to meet anyone called it though, whereas I know a few Matildas. I do like Matilda, but not as much as Tabitha.

MikeUniformMike · 12/01/2018 17:25

Tabitha is lovely. Matilda has become too popular. Tallulah is too girly.

nancy75 · 12/01/2018 17:27

I really like Tabitha but for some reason it makes me think of cats

AnyaMoondial · 12/01/2018 18:20

Matilda is awesome. I really love it. Tabitha is nice but Matilda is just brilliant.

Lenny1980 · 12/01/2018 18:21

Tabitha is a name for a cat.

Joinourclub · 12/01/2018 18:22

I like Tabitha and Tabby is cute.
What about Tamara/Tammy?

Truthstar · 12/01/2018 18:29

Really really love Tabitha!

FreddieClaryHorshieLion · 12/01/2018 18:30

Prefer Matilda.

And I love the - in the U.K. rather uncommon - Tabea. Not sure why...

Fellia · 12/01/2018 18:31

Love this name.

villainousbroodmare · 12/01/2018 18:44

Both names for plump plain middle-aged cats.

girlwhowearsglasses · 12/01/2018 18:45

I have a relative who has ‘Tabatha’ - so with an ‘a’. I love it

MikeUniformMike · 12/01/2018 18:55

I don't.
How about Allegra?

Kitcat159 · 13/01/2018 00:32

Tabitha Alice is the name we have picked for ours if it's a girl so I think it's a great name! Grin
I have always loved the name Tabitha and Alice to me is a magical name (in wonderland)

DramaAlpaca · 13/01/2018 00:40

I agree the initials MAD aren't advisable, but I much prefer Matilda to Tabitha.

The fact I used to have a cat called Tabitha no doubt influences my thinking, but I just don't like it on a human. Sorry.

Pythoness · 13/01/2018 00:40

My first thought after reading the name Tabitha: 'that's a cat name'

dotdotdotmustdash · 13/01/2018 01:09

I think of the daughter of Samantha and Darren in 'Bewitched' in the 70s.

It's cute.

Mrsknackered · 13/01/2018 01:11

I love Tabitha. I only know 2 young adults called it

SuperBeagle · 13/01/2018 01:12

I love Tabitha. I also love Matilda.

Matilda is far more popular than Tabitha, so that would probably swing my vote to Tabitha.

Tableauz · 13/01/2018 01:29

I have a Tabitha and it suits her to a T (no pun intended). Quirky, individualistic and charming.

All these people saying it's a cat's name make me Hmm though - lots of cats have "human" names. Tabitha is just a nice girl's name that people sometimes use for a tabby cat. It's not the same as calling a child Tiddles!

158ff · 13/01/2018 19:38

Both! I LOVE the name Tabitha, I have both names on my list too

Bitsandbobsalot · 13/01/2018 19:42

I adore Tabitha.

SnapesTears · 13/01/2018 19:46

I love Tabitha. I like Matilda as well but Tabitha is way cooler.

wowsaidtheowl · 15/01/2018 19:25

I have a Tabitha. Nobody has ever thought she was a cat. Smile
