Choose a family name that means something to you - no one uses the middle name anyway so sound doesn’t matter

ThunderR0ad78 · 11/01/2018 21:47

Edward James.

I have a James Edward Smile

JeansAndANiceTop · 11/01/2018 21:48

My sons first and middle names are on your list. I approve.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/01/2018 21:48

Edward John
Joseph William
Jacob Henry

ThunderR0ad78 · 11/01/2018 21:48

Or
Edward Joseph
Joseph Edward

squoosh · 11/01/2018 21:49

Yeah, pick one that means something to you. A much loved relative or even a favourite writer or rock star.

pinkyredrose · 11/01/2018 21:52

You don't really need a middle name

Littlechocola · 11/01/2018 21:53

James for any of those

SwinginFromTheChandelier · 11/01/2018 21:55

Thomas
William
Alexander

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 11/01/2018 21:59

Edward was my dads brothers name who sadly passed away in his 30's. Ironically James is my dads name.
Edward James sounds nice.
What do people think of Edward Alan? My OH likes Edward Alan.

Joesph is a new one.
Middle name depends on the surname
If your surname is quite common, the middle name might be used.
How about something you like or a family name.
you could use one of the three names as a middle name

Edward Jacob Happen
Joseph Edward Happen
Jacob Andrew Happen etc

squoosh · 11/01/2018 22:05

Edward James is nicer and has a good family link. I'd assume a middle name Alan was a nod to a family member and would be surprised to find it was picked just because the parents liked it. It's a bit.....Alan-y.

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 11/01/2018 22:07

The surname is quite long, not so common. It's 4 syllables

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 11/01/2018 22:08

So probably needs a 1 syllable middle name. But defiantly would like to have a middle name.

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 11/01/2018 22:09

Yes Alan was my OH grandads name

Edward James Happenington
Jacob Charles Happenington
Joseph Mark Happenington
Edward Rex Happenington
Joseph Alexander Happenington
Edward Alan Happenington

I like Alan too. It's sort of normal and inoffensive compared to the godawful names that seem to be doing the rounds at the moment.

PinkAvocado · 11/01/2018 22:19

Love Joseph Alexander!
Joseph Alan
Edward Alan
Edward James

All sound great.
