Ladasha is a perfectly normal name though isn’t it? So probably some clever Ladasha noticed a neat little way of writing her name down as La-a and it spiralled from there. I quite like it actually.

When anyone trawls this one out, they usually think it's the height of apocryphal humour. Wankers.

The word is full of La-as, (Ladasha)or She's world famous. Almost every unusual name thread that is created you can guarantee at least 2 people will pop saying they know this famous Ladasha.

Nine I would love that to be the actual origin of the urban myth! At high school I knew a Kasey who used to —graffiti— doodle her name as KC.

And nearly everyone seems to ‘know someone’ who ‘ knows someone’ called it. I believe I read that it had never been registered as a name with the ONS. It’s usually someone has a ‘friend’ who taught a girl called it. Bollocks did they.

I’ve never met a La-a but I have met an Aphrodisia. And if one person (or most likely even two people) come to the conclusion that this is a good name for their DD? Someone named KC or La-a might actually exist...

Ladasha is an African-American name. La-a is a ridiculous, illiterate and downright bizarre spelling of it, so it suggests that people who use this name frequently, i.e. African-Americans on the whole, are illiterate, silly, etc.

On the other hand, I genuinely do know a KC. She was the admissions director of the private school my DC attended when we were living in the US. I never found out what KC stood for (I assume something) as she was listed as KC in the faculty directory and always signed off as KC on official documents.

According to birth records there is a L’A. Heaven knows how you’d pronounce it though.
