Florence or Grace?

Finding out the sex next week and so excited to choose a name ( its early I know!)

I love both equally. Florence is just perfect but Grace is also pretty and has no nicknames except for Gracie which is super cute.

I really like Florence Grace.

If we choose Grace I’m not sure on what the middle name might be as I don’t think Grace Florence flows too well? Possibly Elizabeth.

As a nickname for Florence we would go for Floss/Flossy, not keen on Flo...

If it’s a boy we’ve decided on Hugo Jonathan (unless he somehow doesn’t look like a Hugo)

Any thoughts? We’re not telling any family or friends until baby is born to keep it a surprise :)

Grace Elizabeth is lovely. I like Florence, but hate Flo as a shortening. Both Grace and Florence are popular where I live, so depends if that bothers you or not.

Have you considered Beatrice? Similar feel to Florence and Grace, but maybe a little less popular.

Hugo Jonathan is nice too.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/01/2018 19:41

I prefer Florence. I like Floss/Flossie.

AnyaMoondial · 05/01/2018 19:46

Hugo Jonathan is great.

I much much prefer Florence to grace. I have a friend called grace who finds all the "saying grace" and "amazing grace " jokes have got a bit tiresome over the years. Florence Elizabeth is fabulous.

Love Hugo and Grace. I think they are both popular, but Grace has always been popular because it's beautiful and timeless.

My neighbour's daughter is Florence. Nickname Blossom. Absolutely lovely.

I much prefer Florence to Grace. Grace is boring.

Pixel99 · 05/01/2018 20:00

Florence Smile - I have a cat called Florence Hmm

Daisy91 · 05/01/2018 20:04

Blossom, what a lovely nickname!

We don’t care too much about what’s popular, as long as we both like it. I’ve never really known a Grace or Florence but I’m sure that’s because we’re first time parents and have yet to hear all the popular names in nursery/ school.

My husband really likes Olivia which is nice but I don’t love it, plus not too keen on Liv/ Livvy.

Grace.

I find Florence both frilly and lumpen.

Clare2017 · 05/01/2018 20:08

Nickname could be Florrie?

I like Grace Elizabeth and Florence, but I don't like Flo.

Smoliver · 05/01/2018 20:11

Grace Elizabeth sounds lovely to me.

SuperBeagle · 05/01/2018 20:19

Grace Elizabeth.

I like Florence, but it's not as timeless as Grace.

pilates · 05/01/2018 20:24

Grace Elizabeth, timeless and beautiful

peppapig17 · 05/01/2018 20:32

Grace Elizabeth Star

Chocachoo · 05/01/2018 20:50

Florence! Also love Hugo

Daisy91 · 05/01/2018 21:57

Clare, I do like the nickname Florrie!

Maybe we will have to see if she looks like a Grace or Florence (if it’s a girl!) :)

Much prefer Grace to Florence, and I much prefer Gracie to Flo too!
Very personal choice though - good luck with the decision!

RuthW · 05/01/2018 22:01

I have a 20 year old Florence. I call her Floss, friends call her Flo which I like. If you don't like Flo, don't have a Florence.

OliviaStabler · 05/01/2018 22:02

Grace

buttercup54321 · 05/01/2018 22:03

Grace Elizabeth is perfect.

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2018 23:58

I much prefer Florence to Grace.

KERALA1 · 06/01/2018 21:37

We have awful associations with grace. All the graces we know are extremely unkind.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/01/2018 21:47

Hugo Jonathan is cool !
I love Grace. How about ;
Grace Isabelle
Grace Charlotte
Grace Kathryn

GerdaLovesLili · 06/01/2018 22:01

My Nan was Florence Grace. :-) I think the combination is lovely.
