Does anyone else see the appeal? (for a girl)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 31/12/2017 11:38

Rabbit's name Grin

ClandestineAdulation · 31/12/2017 12:23

Makes me think of the butter! Sorry OP.

Patal · 31/12/2017 13:41

Our class rabbits at school are Clover and Buttercup so it’s a no from me

Tinselistacky · 31/12/2017 13:43

(Teen) Clover - spreads easily. So it's a no from me.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 31/12/2017 13:45

Sorry, but 'spreads easily' was my first thought. My poor friend, Margery, at school (old fashioned name back then) got that quip all the time.

PhatSlag · 31/12/2017 13:46

No. It’s up there with Daisy for ‘should be kept as a cows name only’

Marcipex · 31/12/2017 14:15

I liked it until tinsel said that :(

MummySparkle · 31/12/2017 14:21

Oh we all love cloverrrrr, all overrrrr this land.....

DramaAlpaca · 31/12/2017 14:25

Reminds me of the What Katy Did books, which is a nice association, but it does make me think of cows, rabbits & the spread unfortunately.

Clodagh is similar in sound without any of the above connotations.

IPokeBadgers · 31/12/2017 14:25

My first thought was of a character in the What Katy Did books that I loved as as child. I haven't re-read them as an adult but I reckon I might not like them quite so much now....the overall message from them is that good girls must always do as they are told....they are very much of their time. But I did like Clover as a name.

Rainybohoho · 31/12/2017 14:26

It would be shortened to Clo. Not keen.

PaperdollCartoon · 31/12/2017 14:27

I really like it

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/12/2017 14:27

Are you naming a calf?
Sorry, no.

Scoleah · 31/12/2017 14:32

Each to their own, if you like it then who cares what anyone else thinks? But Made me immediately break into the song from the butter advert!^

..:And we all love Clover, all over this land^

Grin
bluelarkx · 31/12/2017 15:22

I do love it actually and wouldn't think of the negative connotations personally x

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 31/12/2017 15:27

1st thought; is baby a cow?
2nd thought; or a rabbit I suppose

I wouldn't OP, sorry to be negative

daisypond · 31/12/2017 15:36

I thought of Clover from What Katy Did first - so that's not a bad association. I didn't actually think of the Clover spread, but now it's been mentioned, that would put me off it as well. But mainly I'm not keen on the idea of naming a person after a tiny nondescript plant that is trodden on underfoot.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 31/12/2017 18:38

I love it! But I dislike the shortening ‘Clo’ and I imagine that’s what it might end up being shortened to.

countdowntothenewyear · 31/12/2017 18:45

Chloe yes, Clover no.

Loveache · 31/12/2017 18:45

I thought the Clover in What Katy Did was a bit wet. Apart from her, I think of Clover the cow, and the spreadable butter. Not a great name imo.

Mrsknackered · 31/12/2017 19:19

For a cow, yes.

I quite like Flora though!

Dolwar · 31/12/2017 19:58

Clover.... spreads easily.... basically calling her a prostitute

Joinourclub · 31/12/2017 20:38

I do get the appeal, and had it in my list. But the Marge association was just too strong for me. What about Cleo?

BrokenBattleDroid · 31/12/2017 20:39

Too bovine from me I'm afraid Op. It has a nice sound to it so I can see why you might like it... But no.

PinkAvocado · 31/12/2017 20:40

No for all the reasons given. Mostly, Clover is definitely a name for a cow, even more so than Daisy!
