Does anyone else see the appeal? (for a girl)

I have a daughter called Clover. Her name gets shortened to Cloves or Coco by her siblings. I do like the name and think it is a bit more original/interesting than other floral type names but it is a bit marmite! My other two have slightly wacky names so it works for us! Grin

Sorry but Clover is so bovine it doesn't suit a horse, much less a human.

Gacapa · 31/12/2017 21:21

Beautiful name.

PemberleyP · 31/12/2017 23:08

Thanks all. The spread is the biggest issue in my mind, but Flora and Olive are reasonably popular so I don’t know how much it matters. And Daisy is the ultimate cow name surely and I know loads. But very helpful to see how it’s received (pretty badly!!) I’m not keen on Chloe or Clodagh, I’m afraid.

Clover sounds masculine and just not pretty imo.

At least Daisy is a girly sounding cows name.

SuperBeagle · 01/01/2018 20:42

One of my good friends in primary school had a younger sister named Clover.

To this day, I still think it's an awful name for a person. Typically, your feelings on a name mellow if you know someone with it, but not this time. Grin

I don’t like Clover... But I do love Flora.

(Similar names are imo Cleodie, Cora, Cara, Chloe, Daphne, Fleur, Daisy, Maple, Olive, Rowan and Wren.)

HollyBollyBooBoo · 01/01/2018 20:56

It's the bunny out of Sofia the First.

WildRosesGrow · 01/01/2018 20:57

I like it! It's a pretty and old fashioned name that has not become over-used. People use Flora as a name, so why not Clover?

LuluJakey1 · 01/01/2018 20:57

The only Clover I know is my friend's guinea pig.

catsarenice · 01/01/2018 21:12

First thought was cloven hooves, then 'roll it overrrrr in the cloverrrr, roll it over in the clover and do it again' ! (Not even sure what that song is - is it the butter again?!)

AlmostChristmas · 01/01/2018 21:17

Just no, please don't otherwise there will be a lifetime of mickey taking- 😐

GuntyMcGee · 01/01/2018 21:56

Isnt the song 'roll me over in the clover, roll me over, turn me on and do it again....?'

That, plus 'spreads easily' would severely put me off using it for a human.

HuskyMcClusky · 02/01/2018 13:15

I love it.

I love Cleo even more, though.

katonic · 02/01/2018 23:53

I love it, was on my shortlist. And I love 'Clo' as a shortening/nickname too! It's sweet without being babyish.

Christmastits · 03/01/2018 00:01

Is it a rabbit?

ScreamingValenta · 03/01/2018 00:03

A nice name. It makes me think of Clover in the 'What Katy Did' series of novels - she was a lovely character, and very pretty.

villainousbroodmare · 03/01/2018 12:02

When are you calving down? Grin

buttercup54321 · 03/01/2018 18:47

MOO lol

Enko · 03/01/2018 19:52

I like it.

Figrollsnotfatrolls · 03/01/2018 20:19

How about Mooriel??

pipilangstrumpf · 03/01/2018 21:42

Clo is a toilet in German. Not a great nickname.

pilates · 03/01/2018 21:54

Clover the cow, sorry not nice

RavenWings · 04/01/2018 00:32

Belongs on something living in a pet farm, imo. Along with Daisy, Maisy and Primrose.

Mooriel Grin

MarmaladeAtkinsX · 04/01/2018 00:36

Grin gunty my DM still sings that one!
