Pretty sure you will all call me mad but hypothetically if I was to have another child I want to know whether these names go well with my children.
I have Juno, Ivy, Clio, Maia, Brodie & Opal
Middle names include Charlotte, Arthur, Theodora, Jessica, Daphne & Lucia.
Will be getting another pup though soon so will have to hold off on baby making but I love the names Effie Selena and Sian Clarissa for a baby girl and can't get them out of my head. Would love to know opinions!

Love effie it's on my list

Rhynswynd · 28/12/2017 23:46

All I can think of is Effie from Acropolis Now which is an Aussie tv show from the 80s. Bloody love Effie. She is an icon over here.

Effie really ‘fits’ with the other names (without being matchy), Selena and Clarissa are lovely.

How do you pronounce Sian?

Smoliver · 29/12/2017 00:35

I prefer Sian. I like it - I was friends with two growing up. I also think the name fits well your other children's names.

Ohmyfuck · 29/12/2017 00:37

Effie is a beautiful name. :-)

BackforGood · 29/12/2017 00:39

I'd say Effie 'goes with' / is a more similar type of name to those your other dc have.
Personally I prefer Sian.

Liloslilo · 29/12/2017 08:14

I love Effie and it fits your sibset perfectly😍 I’m welsh and have a few friends called Sian so it seems a bit dated to me and it doesn’t travel well (people often can’t say or spell it)

Patal · 29/12/2017 08:36

Effie

CormoranStrike · 29/12/2017 12:51

I think Sian is simple and elegant. Effie, to my ears, sounds like an 80-something Scottish wifie, so it is a no from me.

Beansmeans · 29/12/2017 19:37

Effie 100%

AlmostChristmas · 29/12/2017 19:48

Sian Clarissa all the way!

ProseccoPoppy · 29/12/2017 19:53

Sian is lovely and classic. Effie isn’t (IMO) and is something I can imagine kids picking on. This may be coloured by the Sians I know all being really nice...

AfterSchoolWorry · 29/12/2017 19:54

Effie to me reminds me of 'ephemeral' , sort of temporary or transient....so that puts me off.

Also Effie sounds a bit close to 'effin'. Which isn't nice.

Covet1 · 29/12/2017 21:25

Ooh very mixed opinions so far!! It's pronounced shaan. I don't particularly think many people would think of ephemeral for Effie but maybe I am wrong.

Really like Effie, but also think of Ruskin's poor wife, and also Effie Briest, 19thC moralistic literature which I most likely miss the point of.

Effie Grey is is lovely Romantic story actually, and she was a dainty beauty who lived happily ever after. Makes me like the name more actually.
