If you're expecting a boy, what are you calling him? Or have you got a shortlist?

I have a son who is a few weeks old. Our shortlist was

Reuben
Raphael
Louis
Benjamin

...and we called him one of those Smile

If it was completely up to me, I’d pick:

Gabriel
Hamish
Josiah
Elijah

But, since dh, (much to my annoyance), has to go and have an opinion of his own HmmWink, it’s looking like either Vincent or Marcus, which are our mutual compromise names.

Crunchymum · 29/12/2017 12:41

We had Finn and William on our short list (baby is a girl though!)

Saz626 · 29/12/2017 15:34

I'm really struggling with our baby boys name. We're similar to others on the thread either family or friends have already used the name or they just don't feel right for us. I was hoping reading through this would've given me some inspiration. Our favourite or at least the only one we seem to be able to agree on is Maximus but our surname begins with an m so I'm not sure I like the sound of the two ms together. I think it'll be one of those things where we wait until he's born and see what he looks like and what he suits.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 29/12/2017 17:12

Our shortlist is:
Lewis
Anthony
Zachary
Marcus
Rowan
Nathan
Dominic
Leon

Also like Amos and Cornelius but they've been vetoed!

McTufty · 29/12/2017 17:14

Think we will have either Benjamin or Daniel.

MrsBonato · 29/12/2017 17:20

Victor
Hector
Wilfred
Frederick
Otto
Otis
Alistair
Fergus

This would be if DH had no choice at all on names. If he did then probably Frederick would win (Fred as a NN)

Vodkafairy75 · 29/12/2017 20:19

We have settled on Noah (still have a couple of months to change our minds though!)

Other names I liked was
Jacob
Isaac
Aston

MissYeti · 30/12/2017 19:58

We both love Theodore (will be Theodore Stephen Martin to honour both his grandads) but our shortlist was:
Oliver
Milo
Stanley
Theodore

laramumofboys · 31/12/2017 12:42

PenelopePickle · 01/01/2018 22:46

AllMyFriendsAreHeathens · 01/01/2018 23:24

My son was born in November. We really struggled with names, despite knowing we were expecting a boy. Some we liked were:

Jude
Harry
Greer
Jack
Louis
Shaye

When he finally arrived, we went with a name we hadn't even considered as it just suits him so much. Actually, now that I think about it, the exact same happened when we named our daughter.

Jedigirl29 · 08/01/2018 10:16

Marcus
Connor

Which love right now

Oysterbabe · 08/01/2018 11:50

Leo.

flowa79 · 08/01/2018 13:48

My lil boy due in 6wks husband picked 2 names and allowed my daughter 2. So this lil tyke is gonna b Evan Carter Osian Stark. Hubby loves welsh traditional names and my daughter is a marvel and GOT nerd :)

dementedma · 08/01/2018 14:04

interesting to see Raphael on so many lists. Biblical names appearing strong, still lots of Reubens and Noahs.

Dc 1 would have been James, but she was a girl
DC2 - same
By the time DS had come along, my bloody sister had used James for her DC3!
So, I wanted Simon and DH wanted Max. Thus, DS is called Joseph.Smile

bluechameleon · 08/01/2018 14:05

Don't know what we are having but our boy's name is Benjamin. Also on the shortlist were Robert and Henry.

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 08/01/2018 14:10

Theodore James Llewelyn

We don't know if we're having a boy yet but have always had his name picked out.

Girls names are another matter entirely.
