When I hear a name I often get an impression in my head of what a person with that name would be like; looks, interest a, personality traits add

I am considering Nathaniel for our baby due in May (team yellow) but struggle to picture anything so am wondering what impression others get when they hear the name Nathaniel?

Also do you know any?

I know a Nathaniel. He seems to spend most of his time roaring with laughter Smile

I think initially, that it's a really nice name but that he would probably get called Nat. Actually I like Nat as well.

I love it, it is my sons middle name for personal reasons and because it is lovely.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/12/2017 16:30

It's a lovely name. I imagine a rather refined young man, studious and well groomed. I don't like Nat or Nate though.

I really like the name Nathaniel, but I struggle to picture what a Nathaniel would be like! I think it has an old fashioned feel to it for some reason, so imagine someone of that ilk.

I had it on my list for dc2, (due in 5 weeks), but decided against it, as felt it was a bit too long with our surname.

I like the name. Just, you may also want to choose a nickname too so his name doesn't get shortened to Nath, or depending where you live, pronounced as Naff.

RavenWings · 28/12/2017 00:32

His name could still be shortened to Nat or Nath if you choose a nickname. I like Nathaniel, wouldn't use it myself as I don't like the obvious shortenings. It is a lovely name though.

Nathaniel was the name I had picked out for ages, but now I've gone off it because I don't like Nate or Nathan for nicknames and theres nothing else it could be shortened too.

Anyhow, when I think of Nathaniel I think of Nathaniel from Six Feet Under.
