It's a Arabic boys name. Just wondering if you saw it spelt, how would you pronounce it?

What is correct pronunciation OP?

AlmostChristmas · 23/12/2017 18:10

Not read TFT but I'd say Kay-Lum but think it does read Callum also....

Icloud54 · 23/12/2017 18:16

I'm not actually sure how it is pronounced. I just came across the name and wasn't sure how I would pronounce it.
Thank everyone

cull-aam

Joinourclub · 23/12/2017 18:36

The only one I have met pronounced it very similar to Calum.

daisypond · 23/12/2017 18:46

Ka-LAHM is what I would say.

WyfOfBathe · 23/12/2017 18:50

I would assume it was a "younique" spelling of Callum, unless I knew that the child/parents were from a different country (I would probably still say Callum but would double-check)

RideOn · 23/12/2017 18:51

Callum

froshiechipandbrickie · 23/12/2017 18:53

KU-lum

The u like summer.

CaptainChristmas · 23/12/2017 19:50

Kal-AHM

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 24/12/2017 17:25

How are people getting Kay lam?

Aragog · 24/12/2017 17:29

Ka-l-uh-m (Callum) or Kay-l-uh-m. I would have to check first to know which hough would probably assume the former first.

How are people getting Kay lam?

I taught a Kalab/Kalub and it was pronounced Kay-l-uh-b

Mrsknackered · 24/12/2017 20:02

I know an adult one, he says it like Kay-lum

howrudeforme · 24/12/2017 20:05

Khalaam

rcit · 24/12/2017 20:17

I would say cal-arm

SoupDragon · 25/12/2017 21:46

How are people getting Kay lam?

The single consonant would commonly give a long A sound in English (although this isn't an English name!)

C0untDucku1a · 25/12/2017 21:48

Kal AM

greendale17 · 25/12/2017 21:52

Ka-lam

topcat2014 · 25/12/2017 21:55

cal-am

Although I would just assume it was a made up name, and judge..

BossyBitch · 25/12/2017 22:00

cal-ARM

Having said that, it's mostly known for the Kalaam cosmological argument - a rather poor attempt at 'proving' the existence of a god by the means of special pleading. It'd immediately come to mind if I met someone with that name. Not sure that's a good thing.

Patal · 25/12/2017 22:43

Kay-lum or Kal-amm

Joeybee · 26/12/2017 03:34

Cal-am

UsernameInvalid66 · 28/12/2017 12:49

I suspect it's really pronounced like the first half of calamity, but if you hadn't said it was Arabic, I would have thought it was just a trendy misspelling of Cal(l)um.
