If I like these boys names...

DC1 is due in a couple of weeks and we know it's a boy. I'm going round in circles over his name. I am wary of going for anything too popular (I know it shouldn't bother me but both DH and I have unusual-ish names and I don't want him to be number 3 or 4 with the same name in his class). But the names I like are popular!

The shortlist is down to:

Sebastian
Joshua
Ethan
Rafferty/Rafe

I also like but have discounted:

Orlando
Harley
Oliver
Milo
Luca

Middle name will probably be Atticus.

Please help me with suggestions for other names I might like!

Sebastian - Lovely name.
Joshua - Josh is quite a working class, common name if that's ok with you?
Ethan - I think this is tremendously popular at the moment, my DS has several in his year and older.
Rafferty/Rafe - Never heard of, sounds strange out loud.

Congrats on the due date coming up soon :')

Cynicalpsychologist · 17/12/2017 23:15

Felix Atticus ?

samks · 17/12/2017 23:18

Joshua wa sour favourite until friends of ours unknowingly stole it! We ended up calling our son Joseph, which we both love

cavatron · 17/12/2017 23:45

“Josh is quite a working class, common name”

How bloody rude!!

IVflytrap · 18/12/2017 01:03

Hmm
Rainbowandraindrops67 · 18/12/2017 01:10

Joshua isn’t working class at all

ChocolateCrunch · 18/12/2017 06:50

I like Rafferty from your list

What about Rupert, Benjamin, Hamish or Barnaby

BabloHoney · 18/12/2017 07:32

Ewan or Evan
Tristan
Callum
Dylan
Blake
Fraser

All the names on your list are lovely though. Congrats!

pipilangstrumpf · 18/12/2017 07:41

How about
Dominic
Quentin
Magnus

spurtions · 18/12/2017 07:45

Joshua isn’t a working class name at all, it’s a classic biblical name. Such nonsense if ever I heard

Movablefeast · 18/12/2017 08:03

Joshua is a wonderful classic name.

Dominic and Gabriel are great choices.

Atticus is massively trendy and will date horribly.

JW13 · 18/12/2017 08:23

Thank you everyone! Definitely some more to think about there.

I must admit I'd never thought of Joshua as working class (or not) - I'd always liked it and know MIL would be keen due to religious connotations...

@Movablefeast I totally agree about Atticus, not a name I really like and I think it will date but DH has been set on it for 20+ years since he read To Kill A Mockingbird so I agreed for middle name!

Sebastian - I like Sebastian but it is very popular amongst babies and toddlers in our area at least

Joshua - a classic but i actually don't know that many and no little ones

Ethan - not a fan and know a few

Rafferty/Rafe - I doubt you'd get two Rafferty's or Rafe's in the same class. I like both but the fact Rafe wants to auto correct to rape on my phone puts me off. I keep umming and erring over Rafferty myself. I can't decide if it ages well or not. Would I want to be a 35 year old Rafferty? I can't decide

Atticus is cool too

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/12/2017 10:52

Joshua Atticus I sounds good.

Rainbowandraindrops67 · 18/12/2017 11:19

Josiah atticus even better Smile

Marv1nGay3 · 18/12/2017 11:29

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/12/2017 14:47

Sylvester
Benedict
Austin
Miles

Smoliver · 18/12/2017 21:23

How about...

Fraser
Radley
Tobias
Leo
Julian

loobybear · 18/12/2017 22:08

Joshua and Christian are both gorgeous names!

Patal · 18/12/2017 22:18

I adore Rafferty but think it sounds odd with Atticus. Rafferty Atticus - I don’t know just has a funny ring to it to me.

I like Milo the best out of the rest of your names. The rest are just bland or over used to me
