DS1 is due in 5 weeks and has no name! DD is Harriet Eve (nn Hattie).
My favourite boys name is Thomas but this is ruled out as used by a close family member last year.

Middle name James is a family name for us both.

Our shortlist so far is:
Henry James
Jacob James
Finley James

I like all of your shortlisted names.

The only comments I'd have is that while Harriet & Henry sound great together, if Henry ends up being nicknamed Harry you'd have a Hattie & a Harry which might be too similar.

Also, as Harriet is such a classic name I'm not sure if Finley 'goes' particularly well with it.

On balance, I think I'd go for Jacob James. I love that combination.

Agree with the above - Henry too similar to Harriet. In the future, you could potentially end up with Hari and Harry!

I like Jacob James - nickname JJ is cute when little.

MamaMotherMummy · 15/12/2017 01:45

I third Jacob James JJ

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/12/2017 01:48

Finley.

Hattie and Fin.

Also agree about Henry.

NotAgainYoda · 15/12/2017 10:42

Jacob is the nicest

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/12/2017 10:49

Jacob is nice but I hate Jake
Henry is fine if you don't mind the matchyness
That leaves Finlay which I like. :)

Other suggestions:

Samuel
Jonah
Elliott but a bit matchy too.
Miles
Austin
Gregory
Lawrence
Sylvester

MikeUniformMike · 15/12/2017 11:09

Jacob and James mean the same.

LeahG94 · 15/12/2017 14:55

It has to be Finley and Harriet, they sound great together.

CaptainChristmas · 15/12/2017 15:00

Henry James is a famous author. Don’t know if that sways you either way.

I like it best of the three fwiw!

How about Jesse? Ok, not really.

Sebastian James? It’s on our list.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/12/2017 15:15

I don't think any of the go with Harriet.
Jacob and Henry aren't really in the same vein and Henry could choose to go by Harry
as could Harriet so you could end up with a son and a daughter both called Harry.
If they're the only names you like I think Jacob is the best fit.
Other suggestions
James. Oliver. Alexander. Arthur. Thomas.
Ben. Adam. Vincent.

eastlondoner · 15/12/2017 15:16

Definitely Finley

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/12/2017 17:03

Rory James.
Hattie and Rory.

Smoliver · 16/12/2017 22:37

All three options are gorgeous. I love Henry James, but it's a bit to similar to your DD1's name.

I think your best option would be Finley James, but any one of your options would work lovely.

LoveInTokyo · 16/12/2017 22:49

Jacob Henry?

Finley is a bit of a fad name IMO.

2gorgeousboys · 17/12/2017 00:00

I agree that Henry is a bit too similar to DD but how often will you actually say them together? If you love it go for it!

Other ideas

Daniel James
Alexander James
William James
Noah James
Declan James

WildRosesGrow · 17/12/2017 00:03

Finlay would be my choice from your list.

PinkCrystal · 17/12/2017 01:18

Jacob James 100 percent

ThePug · 17/12/2017 15:36

Not Henry - all gets a bit close to the vacuum cleaners (although I think the pink one is Hetty not Hattie, but it's still what sprung to mind!)

PhuntSox · 17/12/2017 15:44

Edward James

kaytee87 · 18/12/2017 00:11

Jacob and James are different forms of the same name, Harry is too close to Harriet and Finley isn't really a classic like Harriet.
Would you consider James as a first name?

DancingInTheRain86 · 18/12/2017 02:18

I like both Henry and Jacob, but Henry is my fav and the name I want to use if I have another boy (currently I have 1 son called Jack) :) Andrew also goes nice with James, Andrew James or AJ for short.
