The Alexandra thread has made me wonder what their latest baby may be called.

Girl:
Anne/Anna
Eleanor
(Can't have Georgina Grin)
Mary
Clara

Boy:
(Not Charles because of Charlotte)
Arthur
They already have a young relative called James.
Peter
Albert
Edward
Michael (although that"s grandad's name)

MyWhatICallNameChange · 09/12/2017 21:31

Shrek or Fiona I reckon. Wink

MyWhatICallNameChange · 09/12/2017 21:33

Can the Queen really veto names? Wonder if Kate's posting here about her MIL interfering in name choices. She's had her turn, you chose what you want Kate, tell her you'll go NC if she doesn't butt out. Wink

StealthPolarBear · 09/12/2017 21:35

Grand mother in law!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/12/2017 21:47

Sorry to derail, but.Talking about vetoing names. I recall a classmate named Jane (not her real name)
saying she was going to be called Samantha (again not actual name)and her nan said. You can piss off with that name you're calling her Jane, and they did. I'm sorry but there's no way I'd let anyone dictate my child's name. Her mother had had her day naming her own children.

NoelNiki · 09/12/2017 22:12

The Queen didnt veto Zara or Eugenie.

This will be the third child and unlikely to get the throne. Doubt they will be that concerned with this name.

Wayfarersonbaby · 09/12/2017 22:28

It's got to be something Hanoverian, surely, given the first two names - so I'm going to go for Frederick for a boy, and either Sophia or Mary for a girl -- could also be Victoria or Alexandra. Probably not Anne, because of Princess Anne; or Augusta (too outré); or Amelia (too popular) - and I like Caroline but think it's too close in derivation to Charlotte.

thegreylady · 09/12/2017 23:35

I wouldn’t be surprised at a baby Elizabeth or John

toffee1000 · 10/12/2017 00:11

Elizabeth is already Charlotte’s middle name (as well as Diana).
The Queen isn’t Kate’s MIL, rather GMIL. Camilla would be step-MIL.

MyWhatICallNameChange · 10/12/2017 00:32

Oh yes, sorry. Even more reason to keep her nose out, she's GMIL. She probably named William & Harry as well. WinkTut, these ILs who can't stop interfering.

toffee1000 · 10/12/2017 00:38

I can’t imagine the Queen is too uptight if she allowed Zara and Eugenie. Zara is Zara Anne Elizabeth and Eugenie is Eugenie Victoria Helena. So maybe they could go with a slightly unusual (for the royals) name if they have traditional middle names. Having said that, they’ve been v traditional with George and Charlotte so I can’t imagine them being too outré.

MrsDilber · 10/12/2017 00:46

I'm wondering if they'd have an Elizabeth?

buttercup54321 · 10/12/2017 00:47

Victoria David
Alice Albert
Emma Philip
Margaret Richard
Mary Angus

MyWhatICallNameChange · 10/12/2017 01:10

Yeah but Zara and Eugenie aren't the direct heirs to the throne. I bet if Di had wanted to call William Wayne or Darren or Kevin she would have said no. Poor Di, I bet those are names she would have chosen. Grin

Janetjanetjanet · 10/12/2017 01:13

Elizabeth

Or

Alexander

TheDowagerCuntess · 10/12/2017 01:50

There are too many 40YOs walking around with the name Victoria (read: Vic, Vicky) for it to be in any way an option. Not current enough for Kate.

As an aside, I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to sets of three siblings. Off the top of my head, I know:

G, G, G
G, G, G
B, G, B
B, B, G
B, twinBs, G
G, B, B
G, G, B

CharisMama · 10/12/2017 01:55

Frederick or Anna

GinIsMyXmasSpirit · 10/12/2017 01:59

Alice if it’s a girl.

Edward if it’s a boy

CharisMama · 10/12/2017 01:59

Apparently The Queen didn't allow Fergie to use Annabel because of the nightclub, she felt there could be scandals linked to the night club. I don't know if that's true though, I think I read it on mumsnet Grin

BacktoworkonMonday · 10/12/2017 02:23

I don't think there's any issue about choosing a name that's already 'in use'. Andrew has Edward as one of his middle names - didn't stop the Queen using it again for Edward. The royals also don't seem to have any problems about using names that are currently in use for different members of the family - Edward (again) shares his first name with the Duke of Kent and of course, The Queen has the same first name as her late mother.

So,

Victoria
Mary
Alice

Philip
Charles
Michael

Bue · 10/12/2017 03:43

I'm with the Dowager, Victoria is far too dated right now to consider. It screams 1978.

Mary would be lovely but I think is a bit too cutting edge for Kate and Wills tbh. I see them as "top 100" namers. Therefore probably Alice. Maybe Frederick for a boy.

TheDowagerCuntess · 10/12/2017 04:47

Yes, Frederick.

My DC (9 and 7) are at school with siblings, similar ages - Elizabeth, Mary and John. Grin

Awesome, I think. Couldn't be more recognisable, and they're the only ones in the class.

Sevendown · 10/12/2017 05:26

They won’t use John because of prince John. And the king wasn’t very nice either.

They have been very traditional —boring— so far so it will definitely be a royal name.

Victoria isn’t in vogue atm so I think Alice is more likely for a girl.

I wish they would be more adventurous with a Marina or Augusta though.

Philippa or Jane could be outside contenders.

Or she could do a queen mum and call her Catherine.

Edward, Andrew, James William and Henry are probably too close to existing royals. Maybe for the next generation.

So maybe Alfred, Albert, Arthur

Stephen and Richard are too unfashionable

Sevendown · 10/12/2017 05:31

Sophia could be a strong contender.
