Ashleigh?!

DH and I have had so many disagreements over names, Ashleigh is the one name we can to seem to agree on.

However I have some reservations because I know Ashleigh was extremely popular in the 80s/90s (I'm born '88 so went to school with a few myself) so it does seem to be a name of it's time.

Honest opinions please, would it seem odd for a girl to be name Ashleigh in 2017?! Or is it due a comeback :)

I prefer it spelled Ashley, for both genders.

I much prefer Asha or Aisha, though.

I would think it's a bonus to both like a name that is currently not popular (but is nevertheless a 'real' name that people will recognise). Naming from your age cohort is one of the best ways to be 'original'!

Very outdated, and considered "common" where I'm from. I went to school with several Ashleighs.

Aisling is nicer.

Prefer Asha or Aisling, but Ashleigh is OK. I'd spell it the way you have, for a girl.

I do like Asha but DH doesn't sadly.

I'm not really keen on Aisling, also there is no Irish blood in either of us!

Not keen, I don’t really like -leigh names. How about Ashling, Ashlyn or Ashton?

I've never met an Ashleigh, I don't think of it as an 80s name.

It's fine. You can always shorten it unofficially to Asha or Ash.

I think it is a perfectly fine name the Ashleigh/ey's I know are 20+ so i don't see it as dated but due a revival.

I love Ashley for a boy! I really wanted to name DS1 it. I'm not as keen for a girl, but I would still spell it the 'normal' way.

It's not a name that I personally like but I agree it was VERY popular in the 80-90's, I agree if you like it go for it.

Not a fan sorry, but dated to me. But there's nothing offensive about it and she won't be ridiculed , it's not a terrible name !
