Sensible names?

I am torn between two totally different lists. One super sensible (boring? Will there be 3000 of them in their class?) And ones that I love but might be a bit too try hard...

I have an unfashionable name and HATE it (no one ever uses the whole thing thankfully) -she is in the Apocrypha and got a dude drunk and cut his head off. Lovely things to associate with a newborn.. (but that's a different rant)

Surname is the same as post (so Royal, Snail and E are out!)

Not really fair opinion here as I ain't a fan of out there names
But for me
I love Toby & Joshua
& I love Felicity, Emily & Lucy all these three were on my last dd's name list before she was born

I like Toby.

Zelda is amazing, I love it. I also really like Lucy.

Asterix is the craziest out of those I think haha, reminds me of asterisks which is a grammatical symbol!

I have a Joshua gorgeous name all three of my dc have what’s considered popular names but my dd is he only one in her class and my ds1 is one of three. So it can vary.

I much prefer your sensible names and they aren't that common.

I prefer your sensible boys but uncommon girls. I love Juno. It's not crazy. Asterix is though!

I think there might be other not "sensible" but not too "out there" names too - a middle option if you like (although you may have already been through every name!). Maybe keep trawling?

Fwiw, my DS has an unusual name and he loves it and loves that he doesn't know anyone with his name (he is 5). It is the surname of a famous US president who was shot, beginning with L. If left to me, I'd have gone for a very straight laced name but his Dad wanted something unusual and I went with it. I don't regret it at all even though it isn't what everyone would go for. The name is totally DS now and really suits him. I can't imagine him as an Oliver or Alexander (I think those were my favourites).

I'd go for what you love over what you think is sensible (and that is totally NOT what I would have said before having an unusually named DS!).

I am a big fan of 'different' names.

Hate all your 'traditional' boys' names (sorry). Barnaby is the best of the three.

Love Zeik the most out of the other three.

Hate your 'traditional' girls' names. Emily and Lucy are boring and outdated. Felicity is very bland.

Love Luna, Juno and Zelda.

Zeik - love this but would spell it Zeke and would also use Ezekiel as the full name. (Disclaimer: this was the name we had chosen for DD2 if she had been a boy and I am still a little sad that I never got to use it)

Emily - like but perhaps a little dull
Lucy - like this also - very pretty and less common than Emily where I live anyway.

Luna - ok
Juno - like, but prefer Junia as a name with a similar sound.
Zelda - no - she's unlikely to be a warrior princess!

Toby - a bit wet
Asterix - no way. It's not really a name; it's a pun on asterisk

If it influences your decision at all Luna is not unusual at all where I live, I know several 1 and under! Juno is beautiful and although a little unusual not that ‘out there’ also, you could call her June which I think is gorgeous😍 I like Barnaby, Zeke and Loki but would potentially go for Ezekiel and Lochlan and shorten them to Zeke and Loki myself.
