What would Savannah get shortened to?

We keep finding names that we like, but then one of us won't like what it would be shortened to (eg love Jasmine, but dh hates Jazz, love Evie but i'm not keen on Eve).

I was just thinking about Savannah, but don't know any myself, and can't work out what it's likely to be shortened to?

Sav or Savva the latter pronounced as Say-va.

Sav, Savvy, Savva, Vanna?

Helena17 · 28/11/2017 11:27

Sav and you can pronounce it as Save. Cute! :)

Just don't shorten it? Why the need?

It's not about the parents shortening it - their friends will at some point. You do have to consider shortened versions. My siblings and I all have longer names which our friends shortened in our teens and are what we are now called by everyone apart from our parents and some relatives. My Mum hates our names being shortened as they aren't the names she gave us - but they were all begging to be shortened! That said, DD has a short name and some of her friends lengthen it (not her name but think Annie instead of Anne).

I have a three syllable first name and it's never been shortened!

Savvy

Sophronia · 28/11/2017 23:24

Vannah

Thanks everyone. DH vetoed the name anyway, so it became obsolete! Interesting to hear that no-one thinks Evie would be shortened to Eve though... may add it back to the list!
