Found out we're having a boy!

I’ve name changed for this because I’ll be putting my other children’s names here..

We currently have an Oliver and an Ella.
Both are primary school aged.

Me and DH don’t agree on any of the boy names!!

I like August, Forrest and Phoenix
He likes Issac and Lincoln

I think a more “normal” name would be best, because we have two normal names already. But I can’t help liking the other names!

We have 8 letters in our surname. But I have 7 letters in my first name and it flows nicely, so not too bothered about length.

No idea for a middle name either. It might end up being Freddie for my Grandad though. I used my dads name for Oliver (he passed away when I was a baby). DH used his nanny’s name for Ella.
So as this is our last baby, I’m not sure who gets to pick!

What names would you suggest?

Isaac is nice, but very popular, and would go well with Oliver and Ella.

I love August, Forrest and Phoenix (I think you'll get a lot of people on here who don't like them). I don't think think these names would go with your other DC's names.

However, I'm a believer in choosing a name you love! If you don't choose one of these more out-there names, you might regret it in the future.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/11/2017 12:49

I do like Freddie, and it goes well with Oliver and Ella.
But Oliver, Ella and Lincoln, would be my next choice, very nice.

stonygreysoil · 20/11/2017 15:16

Isaac obviously easiest fit.

But if you want to go a bit mad on the last baby of the family ( and why not when oliver and Ella will be there to handle any putative bullies) then you should.

Having said, wouldn't care for any of the names you suggest:
what about Gus, Maurice or Fox?

Chocolatecake12 · 20/11/2017 15:23

Totally outing myself but I have an Isaac and an Oliver
IMO and I’m obviously biased - they go sooooo well together.
I get lots of compliments on the name Isaac - he’s the only one in his school, the only one at scouts, the only one in his football team.
Go for Isaac!

mysticmoon · 20/11/2017 15:25

Ollie, Ellie and Freddie sounds cute! If you do nns.

Navegante · 20/11/2017 15:56

Augustus but Gus on a day to day basis??

Agree with pp that Isaac is the most obvious fit with your other dcs names.

What about Jackson/Jack
Benedict/Ben
Arlo (sounds 'different' but strictly speaking isn't)

stuckfornames · 20/11/2017 16:26

At the moment, Oliver is just Oliver. I can’t picture him as an Ollie and he always shouts back saying “my names Oliver!” whenever someone tries to call him Ollie haha!
Ella just gets called Ella or Ellaboo.

I did really like Isaac when DH suggested it a while ago, but now it’s a possibility - I don’t know how I feel about it!

I do like Freddie as a first name but I’m not sure DH would go for it because it’s my grandads name (well he is Frederick). I do think he’d be okay with it as a middle name though.

I love Fox! No way DH would go for that though!

Augustus/Gus, I don’t like them versions. But I love August haha! From Once Upon a Time! He is Pinocchio.

I can’t tell the children that the baby is a boy until DH gets back at 6 as he wants to be here.. it will be interesting to see what names they suggest!!

I love August OP, I suggested it to DH for our boy twin but he said no. Augustus/Gus just isn’t the same is it?

Some others on our list are -

Wolfe (Yes, really)
Fox
Rex

Boys names are difficult, as you can see from the size of our list..

CocoLoco87 · 20/11/2017 18:25

Wilfred nn Wilf
Hugo
Rafferty / Rafael nn Raf

user071017 · 20/11/2017 20:02

Jacob
Joshua
Theo
Dominic
Elliot

daisypond · 20/11/2017 20:03

I do like Isaac the best out of your list, and most of your others are all definite no-nos for me. But I feel I could come round to August - there's something about it that works - it has a good meaning as well and is simpler than Augustus.

stuckfornames · 20/11/2017 21:26

I mentioned Freddie and DH asked if I mean for a first or middle name.. I said that I like it for both. And he said it’s a possibility!!!
That means it’s finally a name we agree on 😱😱

I think Freddie and Isaac go really well with Ella and Oliver. All really nice names!

I do love August though. It’s one of my favourite boy names.

Other suggestions:

Zachary
Jonah
Harrison

Littlehouseonthepraririe · 21/11/2017 06:15

Love Freddie, but Frederick on BC

Littlehouseonthepraririe · 21/11/2017 06:19

I also love Isaac and hvnt met a single one and there's been none at any of my children's schools ( we move around rather a lot), so I wdnt say it's popular.

Aquamarine1029 · 22/11/2017 18:24

Hudson Charles

buttercup54321 · 22/11/2017 23:12

Freddie
William
Thomas
Edison
Timothy
Jacob
Angus
Lincoln is also nice

user071017 · 23/11/2017 05:36

Hudson is a bold choice

Dizzywizz · 23/11/2017 06:28

What about Jago? Cornish for James.

Patal · 26/11/2017 19:44

I think the names you have are lovely and all would go together

Oliver, Ella and Isaac
Oliver, Ella and Lincoln
Oliver, Ella and Freddie

I LOVE Phoenix and Forest but I don't think it would be right to put them with Oliver and Ella.

Smoliver · 26/11/2017 21:17

I like the name Isaac (sadly a name that I can't use) and I like the name Freddie. I think they could well together, one as a first and one as a middle name.

Maybe Freddie Isaac? or Isaac Freddie? That way both you and your DH get to use a name you both like.

Good luck and I hope you and your DH agree on a name soon! Smile

stuckfornames · 27/11/2017 06:47

At the moment, I think Freddie is the highest contender.

But DH really loves Isaac so will probably try push that forward.

I told him that I'm not keen on it, but that I would be fine using it for the middle name.

Unless I find something that I love even more - I think Freddie will win.
