Opinions on Guy and Gregory?

Guy
Gregory

I’d never considered either of these before, but Dh has just suggested them for dc2 (due January) and I actually think I really like them. I’ve never met a child with either name, so wonder what others think?

We’d also consider Gregor, though neither of us is Scottish, so don’t know if that would work. I’m (mainly) Irish (it’s rather complicated). Dh is English.

I really like Gregory but can't past Guy Fawkes / "Mr Nice Guy" for Guy, sorry!

PaperdollCartoon · 19/11/2017 22:57

I like them both. Unusual but not outlandish. I’ve only known two Gregory/Greg’s in my life, both now late twenties. Guy has always been a fave of mine by DP isn’t keen.

Stinkbomb · 19/11/2017 23:00

I love Gregory - was on my list but XH didn’t like it.

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 19/11/2017 23:03

Dislike both, guy to me is just like hey guy! Just a rude way to address someone’s name you don’t know, Greg is OK YT Gregory I’m not a fan

Winterflower84 · 19/11/2017 23:08

Gregory is classy. Love it!

Mrsknackered · 19/11/2017 23:44

I love Guy. I know 2 young adult Guy's who are lovely.

Not so keen on Gregory as I don't like Greg, I do like Gregor more though.

NamasteNiki · 20/11/2017 01:41

Guy is a great name.

Not as keen on Gregory. Prefer Gregor.

ColinsVeryJolly · 20/11/2017 08:13

Gregor is nice.

Guy makes me think of the soppy Guy of Gisbourne from Maid Marian and her Merry Men Grin

TatianaLarina · 20/11/2017 11:00

I prefer Gregor to Gregory but he’ll get called Greg whichever you choose.

Guy and Greg I think are equally good.

thegreylady · 21/11/2017 08:03

My grown up son is Guy so I love the name.

blueskyinmarch · 21/11/2017 08:06

Hate Guy.

Like Gregory but prefer Gregor or Greg.

MammieBear · 21/11/2017 16:39

Guy is indeed a lovely old charmer of a name in my opinion, Gregory's nice too but for me Guy tops it.

MikeUniformMike · 22/11/2017 21:19

Love Guy. Gregory - I would like to like it but I just can't see a Greg being nice, unless it was a pastie.

FairfaxAikman · 22/11/2017 21:23

Guy seems a bit “wet” to me.
Gregory is miles better and can be shortened to Greg.

AfterSchoolWorry · 22/11/2017 21:27

Gregory I'd put in the same category as Gary and Malcolm. Greg is a balding middle aged man. Very ordinary.

buttercup54321 · 22/11/2017 23:14

Both great names.
