What do we think of Luna?
I really like it but I guess I'm worried that it will be seen as tacky in a few years. Is it like Skye, Scarlet etc or do you think it's more timeless and solid like Iris?
Honest opinions please!

It's a nice name but I think it will date and the HP fan in me will always associate it with Lovegood. If you really like it, I'd just use it!

autumnal that is one of the most helpful alternate suggestion replies I've ever come across on this board Smile

SuperBeagle · 04/11/2017 07:45

I like it, but it is obscenely trendy.

It reminds me of Luna Lovegood, but that association has been wallpapered over by that loud-mouthed celebrity who's married to John Legend.

2014newme · 04/11/2017 07:54

Not chavvy but obviously luna lovegood will be the association although she's a lovely character so does that matter?

HaHaHmm · 04/11/2017 08:13

John Legend’s wife is Chrissy Teigen. Their daughter is Luna.

PandaCat · 04/11/2017 08:59

I've always liked Luna, but wouldn't use it, something feels off about it.

NovaArt3mis,

Thanks!
Now be honest: are you just flattered I suggested your name as an alternative? Wink

I do love Nova, though. Makes me think of cosmic brightness and exploding stars.

Love it. It's the name of my daughter.

Never met a dog called Luna and as for Harry Potter... I adore Luna Lovegood. She was always her unique self even when others thought she was weird and looked down on her. She was comfortable in herself. And not at all boring😀

I don't care if it's faddy. It's beautiful.

Sure, there's the 'lunatic' association, but I never think of that. When she is excited and hyped-up, I call her 'loopy-lu'. My grandfather nicknames me that as a kid.

illbekaney · 04/11/2017 22:20

Luna is my 2 year old niece’s name and at first we didn’t know what to make of it, but now I don’t think about it at all, in fact I couldn’t imagine her being called anything else. It’s a really nice name that’s creeping up the baby name charts every year.

Notalitigator · 05/11/2017 09:09

A few people o follow on instagram have Luna's. They're all on the hippy/alternative side to the point it seems a bit cliched to me now if you identify as alternative.

That said, I think it's a pretty name.
