Hello, we're sat in the antenatal ward waiting and waiting... now trying to distract ourselves by finally making our minds up on boys names. Would love to get some objective opinions, as we are struggling a bit!
'Safe' option is Louis (French pronunciation)
Other two slightly more out there choices are Ray ( not Raymond) and Nelson. What do you reckon?

I like Louis Smile

pinkliquorice · 02/11/2017 18:15

I like Louis or Nelson.
People will call him Lewis though rather than Louie.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/11/2017 18:18

All lovely, sorry not helpful.
I think I'd go with Louis.
Would Nelson be after Nelson Mandela

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/11/2017 18:19

Oh actually I think I prefer Nelson Ray now.
Oh I don't know. It's so hard isn't it choosing names

Mulch · 02/11/2017 18:21

Nelson ray sounds lovely

Ivehadtonamechangeforthis · 02/11/2017 18:27

Louis.

Good luck!

Scottie1234 · 02/11/2017 18:28

Thanks all, appreciate the responses.
Yep, choosing names is a nice distraction - but surprisingly stressful once you've got a deadline!
Nelson Ray is pretty cool 😊
Mandela not the reason for us thinking about that name , but it can't hurt having such great associations. Yes the Louis/Lewis confusion has given us pause for thought too - but maybe it's not an issue once you've corrected people a few times

Louis

JKR123 · 02/11/2017 18:31

Louis. I'm not keen on the other names to be honest but Louis is lovely.

Chocolatecake12 · 02/11/2017 18:31

Most of the time you tell people your child’s name rather than thdmvseeung it written down so the confusion over a pronunciation isn’t massive.
I like louis but that because it’s the safest of your choices and I’m not brave to use such a cool name like Nelson.

lizabes · 02/11/2017 18:34

Isn’t Nelson the bully but in the Simpsons?

I think Louis is lovely but I really don’t like Ray or Nelson, they just make me think of someone middle aged and balding rather than a cute baby.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 02/11/2017 18:34

I don’t think people will pronounce Louis as Lewis. It’s a completely different name Grin

I really like Louis and Nelson.

Good luck!

DramaAlpaca · 02/11/2017 18:35

I'd go for Louis.

Growuphelen · 02/11/2017 18:37

Louis Nelson sounds good

Bin85 · 02/11/2017 18:39

Louis

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/11/2017 18:42

Louis

Bubblebubblepop · 02/11/2017 18:46

Louis! Nelson is a pub name

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/11/2017 19:09

Love Louis, but Ray is also, a very cool name, so I'll choose Ray ! 😄

SpikeGilesSandwich · 02/11/2017 19:25

Louis Ray sounds cool. Not keen on Nelson personally but that's just me.

RavenWings · 02/11/2017 19:27

Love Ray. Very different.
Louis is very bland imo.
Nelson = bully from the Simpsons.

BernardBlacksHangover · 02/11/2017 19:27

I'd go with Ray definitely. It's a lovely name.

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/11/2017 19:31

Louis's are everywhere. I'm so bored of it

I really like Ray and know a 4 year old Ray. It really works for him

Nelson makes me think of the bully from the Simpson's but it's not a bad name

Intercom · 02/11/2017 19:46

I really like Ray. Short, snappy, bright and underused yet not unheard of. Louis is OK, but I’m not keen on surnamey first names so Nelson gets third place.

Beek84 · 02/11/2017 19:54

Ray - love it

ChocolateCrunch · 02/11/2017 19:55

Louis
