Revives thread Grin

What’s the whale association?

Jacob is the only boys name on our list!

BernardBlacksHangover · 08/11/2017 09:26

@Penguin

The whale reference is biblical. Jonah gets swallowed by a whale.

Erica891 · 08/11/2017 10:34

I like Jacob more :)

ChinaRose · 08/11/2017 10:37

Jonah. My baby who died last July in utero was Jonah. Still seems quite rare.

Jacob, but love Jonah too!

llangennith · 09/11/2017 01:22

Jacob is very common but Jonah is awful.

ThisNameNow · 09/11/2017 01:25

Both are lovely but Jacob is very popular. I'd go for Jonah. I also love Johan

LindaDeb · 09/11/2017 08:35

Both are nice, good taste!

Yes, Jacob is often shortened to "Jake", including my son by his friends, though us in the family call him "Jacob" as we prefer it. That said, I have a friend who is absolutely never called "Jake", not once by anyone, always "Jacob". At the end of the day, I think it will come down to your son himself, and what he prefers! If he tells everyone to call him Jacob they will! I think it can be nice to have the choice between the more formal and less formal versions - is there such a choice with Jonah?

CocoLoco87 · 09/11/2017 08:42

They might end up being Jake or Joe to their friends. Would that sway you either way? I would go with Jacob personally.

Ionarocks · 09/11/2017 09:45

linda yes, my Jonah gets called Jojo, Jo and Joey.
