Sounds like a pair of wellies (sorry)

Ropsleybunny · 29/10/2017 18:11

Good name for a dog.

Wolfiefan · 29/10/2017 18:12

Fine if you see a future as a gladiator! Otherwise? No.

Afternooncatnap · 29/10/2017 18:15

I love the name Hunter and would like it for any other boys I have.

Don't worry about shortening. All names will get shortened to somthing you don't like. It's what kids do. Unless it's a short name and then it will get lengthened to somthing your don't like.

Boys normally use surnames for nicknames anyway.

DramaAlpaca · 29/10/2017 18:16

Probably.

There are much nicer names around. It doesn't have pleasant associations tbh.

I'm not a fan of surnames as first names generally, but that name just makes me think of someone who likes killing animals.

Cavender · 29/10/2017 18:19

It might get shortened to Hun...

Heratnumber7 · 29/10/2017 18:23

What if he’s anti-hunting when he grows up? Or thin and weedy?

Ridiculous OP. Sorry.

jayne1384 · 29/10/2017 18:28

Okay! Thanks , it’s not one of my favs just trying a few out xx

Hideous sorry.

I know of someone who called their baby daughter Hunter, about 5 years ago. They are from the north and I think hunter for a little girl said in a Geordie accent just sounds terrible.

whoareyoukidding · 29/10/2017 18:38

I rather like it.

BernardBlacksHangover · 29/10/2017 19:13

I don't really like it; it reminds me of wellies, Gladiators and hunting (obviously)!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/10/2017 20:05

I like it too, and I imagine, he would get "H", as a nick name.

SuperBeagle · 29/10/2017 20:19

I don't like it.

I wanted to like it, as my favourite author is Hunter S. Thompson. But I used Chenault - a character from his book - as DD1's middle name instead.

It's just not a nice name, and it doesn't have a nice meaning.

Mulch · 29/10/2017 20:31

I really like it, I wouldnt shorten it myself. What about hudson

mrsRosaPimento · 29/10/2017 20:33

I’d constantly think of someone shooting animals and birds dead.

Pemba · 30/10/2017 05:37

Yuck

lizzieoak · 30/10/2017 05:54

I’m not keen on last names as first names, even less so when they’re Occupational, and even less so when the occupation is violent.

And in some accent won’t it sound like junta?

icantgetnosleep5 · 30/10/2017 20:23

Haha brill!
I like hunter, we are a petite pair tho, and I think hunter might suit a strapping tall maaaaaan , not the hobbit sized ballet dancers we produce !!

Mclaren37 · 02/11/2017 00:55

I like Hunter, despite all the negative connotations. It just has a nice sound. Hudson is a really nice, and less controversial, alternative?

Want2bSupermum · 02/11/2017 00:59

Love Hunter and know a few boys with the name. I would have named DS Hunter but DH refused to allow it because he thought the name wound be shortened to Cunter.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 02/11/2017 01:07

Nope. Makes me think of the film Paranormal Activity!

buttercup54321 · 03/11/2017 00:51

horrible.

pixie8 · 03/11/2017 02:26

I like it!

OkPedro · 03/11/2017 02:32

Who in PA was called Hunter?

op please don't call your ds hunter. It's bloody awful. I was watching a tv programme last week and they called their son Wolf..it's the only name worse than hunter

Dustbunny1900 · 03/11/2017 02:41

I actually love the name, but then I hunt (for food, which IMO is far better than factory farming so unless y’all are vegan , sorry -massive eye roll) and I think it’s really different and striking for a girl
Strong and masculine for a boy.
