I was speaking to a friend about the name Elijah who stated it had 'gone to the chavs' in regards to this she stated it was becoming the new name amongst those that would of chosen Jayden.

Whilst I'm not a fan of Jayden I do love Elijah but would everybody assume an Elijah's parents were 'Chavs'?

Do you know any Elijah's?

No, but I would assume that they were very religious.

Chaffinch4 · 27/10/2017 09:03

I wouldn't assume anything. I know a few from non-religious families. They're known as Eli usually.

SmartyPants0 · 27/10/2017 09:07

I love that name... I also love Caleb

Non religious here ☺

WhatAPigsEar · 27/10/2017 09:17

My friend has an Eli//Elijah - they are not chavs. Not hugely religious

FemaleDilbert · 27/10/2017 09:20

I know an Elijah. Like PP they parents are not chavs and also not religious people

ChocolateCrunch · 27/10/2017 09:24

Yes, I know a few - not chavvy, not overly religious

PandorasXbox · 27/10/2017 09:34

I know an Eli. He’s very posh.

Love Elijah.

I know two Eli’s and an Elijah. None of the families remotely religious or ‘chav.’ Lovely names.

stellarfox · 27/10/2017 09:55

I don't think it's chavvy. I know one and the family are not religious

BriechonCheese · 27/10/2017 09:57

I know a toddler Elijah who gets Eli most of the time.
I don't like the word chav but his family are very far from the people who would have that badge thrown at them.

No, I wouldn't assume anything tbh. I remember walking past a really fancy house in a really fancy town near London where I used to live in the really unfancy part. They had a son called Jayden / Jadon. I know this because the mum was always shouting it out the front door at him!

Ionarocks · 27/10/2017 11:15

I love it. Definitely not chavvy but it's become very mainstream and used by a variety of backgrounds/social classes. Maybe that's what they meant?

Ionarocks · 27/10/2017 11:17

I also know a lovely little Jayden with very mc parents. Don't really get all the Jayden snobbery here.

DiegoMadonna · 27/10/2017 11:40

Seems middle class to me
