Just that really, seems a bit of a mixed bag online between emme-line and emme-leen.

MilibandStoleMySonsName · 27/10/2017 20:35

MajesticWhine · 27/10/2017 20:38

Emma leen definitely
I have never heard of Emma line

lolalotta · 27/10/2017 20:43

I know one, it's -leen

Mum2Nat · 27/10/2017 21:31

I have always thought Emma-Leen but there is a girl in my daughter's school who is Emma-Line.

RoystonVaseySmegHead · 27/10/2017 22:25

Emme-lyn, the same pronunciation as Evelyn

Elemjaybee83 · 27/10/2017 23:04

As a Mum to an Emmeline we pronounce it Em-e-leen. But I say each to their own, however you like it for your child

blueskyinmarch · 27/10/2017 23:08

Em-Elle-een.

Very Scottish. Sorry.

holdthewine · 28/10/2017 01:50

In the 1974 song by Hot Chocolate “Emma” it sounds like Emmaleen for sure. Congrats on your son OP and back to the drawing board.

raisinsarenottheonlyfruit · 28/10/2017 02:02

Elliot?

WheresYouWheelieBin · 28/10/2017 03:12

I’ve only ever heard it pronounced to rhyme with Caroline, I wouldn’t have thought to pronounce that spelling as ‘leen’ at the end.

Only1scoop · 28/10/2017 03:18

Emm a leen

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/10/2017 03:27

-leen

I HATE Emme-lyn or even worse Em-lyn. I can live with Emme-line.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 28/10/2017 08:46

I'd have said somewhere between Emma-leen and Emma-lin.

We had to take it off our list for dd before we started because we're a German/Brit family and the Germans would have pronounced it Emma-LEE-na. Otherwise I think it would have been a contender.

pipilangstrumpf · 28/10/2017 11:44

I think the German pronunciation is Eh-meh-LEE-neh (the ee pronounced English), with 4 syllables

HeteronormativeHaybales · 28/10/2017 12:40

I mean 'Emma' and 'na' as an English speaker would pronounce them, with the 'a's as schwas. It's more 'uh' than 'eh'. So 'EmmuhLEEnuh'.

pipilangstrumpf · 28/10/2017 14:18

That makes sense Smile. I often find it difficult to describe English pronunciations.

Read the thread people It's definitely pronounced Elliot!

Well maybe not but the OP is definitely not having either an Emma-leen or Emme-line

EleanorXx · 05/11/2017 12:16

Emma-line
