Just that really, seems a bit of a mixed bag online between emme-line and emme-leen.

The one I know, aged 5, is Emma-leen.

Not Emma-leek as autocorrect would insist!

whiteroseredrose · 25/10/2017 08:22

Also Emma lean like Emmeline Pankhurst

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/10/2017 08:22

Emmaline, Emma Emmaline
Gonna write your name high on that silver screen

AutumnalLeaves38 · 25/10/2017 08:22

Emma-LEEN

(Very pretty name, OP).

AutumnalLeaves38 · 25/10/2017 08:25

Greenandcabbagelooking,

Emma-leek Grin

Your autocorrect must be making veg assumptions based on your MN username...

CauliflowerSqueeze · 25/10/2017 08:27

Leen

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/10/2017 09:49

Emma-leen.

thepatchworkcat · 25/10/2017 09:52

Emma-leen. Never heard of it being pronounced emma-line. Admittedly I don’t know any in real life tho.

MollyHuaCha · 25/10/2017 09:57

Emma-leen

Sophronia · 25/10/2017 09:58

Emma-leen in the UK, Emma-line in the US.

SwishswishBiTCH · 25/10/2017 10:01

Emma-Line

Smoliver · 25/10/2017 10:23

I have a friend with this name. We pronounce it Emma-leen.

Choccyhobnob · 25/10/2017 10:48

leen

BernardBlacksHangover · 25/10/2017 14:19

Emma-leen

Nadeynoo · 25/10/2017 14:39

Went to school with an Emm-a-leen to rhyme with clean

BeakerChew · 25/10/2017 15:38

Emma-Leen

boatrace30 · 25/10/2017 15:40

We’re thinking of using this name and I’d never even realised there were two ways to pronounce it. Assumed it was Emme-leen. I’m thinking twice now!!

Pemba · 25/10/2017 15:40

Emma-leen is most usual in the UK. Although I know some people say Emma-lyne to rhyme with wine.

Pemba · 25/10/2017 15:46

But this often happens with names ending in 'ine'. I suppose it's like Madeline, which can been madda-leen or madda-line to rhyme with wine. Or ditto Clementine. Or even Caroline which is pronounced Carol-een in France I believe.

Even Catherine - which is always Kath-rin here - may be included in this. In my city (Leicester) there is a road called Catherine Street, which is pronounced locally as kath-ryne (to rhyme with wine). It makes me think that the 'ine' to rhyme with wine ending on names is the older English pronunciation.

pipilangstrumpf · 25/10/2017 16:25

Emme-leen

I’ve never heard it any other way Confused

pipilangstrumpf · 25/10/2017 16:26

It’s Emme leen, not Emma-leen as there is no A.

Ttbb · 25/10/2017 16:32

Em-e-lean

Pemba · 25/10/2017 16:33

But we are trying to show it phonetically . It makes an 'uh' sound emm-uh-leen really. But Emma is also said emm-uh, so you might as well write emma-leen for quickness.

Pemba · 25/10/2017 16:34

Whereas if you write Emme-leen people might think you mean Emmy-leen, or Em-leen, it's not clear.

AmysTiara · 25/10/2017 16:36

I've never heard it rhyme with Caroline.

I knew 2 and both pronounced it Emmeleen
