Ever expanding boys names list...

Posted a few weeks ago but still can't decide on a name for third baby, other than DH vetoing anything beginning with J so goodbye Julian, Jasper and Jude (sob).

He likes Quentin and Dorian.
We both like Vincent but can't use.
Also in the running are
Cassius
Egon
Lucien/an
Luther
Loudon
Atlas
Roman
Rowan
Remus(Remy)

We have an Orson already and a Greek/slightly Jilly Cooper esque named daughter, both quite unusual (some would say pretentious Wink names).

Just looking for thoughts and any ideas to expand the list! Thanks.

@superbeagle Thanks for the heads up about Remus, didn't know the Harry Potter connection. We have an Orson but quite like Evander, Marlon and Soren so will run them past my partner. Aslan I like but it's a bit lion-y!

Marlon is very cool.😎

Smashpumpkin · 18/10/2017 17:19

What about Ronan?

Buntysoven · 18/10/2017 22:57

Er... Marlon Dingle? My very hipster not posh sis has a Thaddeus

SuperBeagle · 18/10/2017 23:14

No idea who Marlon Dingle is Grin. I'd guess that Marlon Brando would be the more widely known association.

RidingWindhorses · 18/10/2017 23:16

Only like Roman and Cassius from that list.

My first kiss was with a boy called Luther, so that may colour my view.

Pickinchickin · 19/10/2017 10:31

I quite like most of them - so others you might like are...

Darien
Sylvan
Florian
Sebastian
Anton
Keir

Pickinchickin · 19/10/2017 10:32

Forgot to add...

Evander

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 19/10/2017 21:20

Surely there's only one "Marlon" who really counts...and that's legendary Brando!
That would be who first springs to mind, not a random Dingle.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 19/10/2017 21:21

^ Oh. SuperBeagle got there first!

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 19/10/2017 21:27

He's due in 4 weeks and short list is now

Cassius, Luther, Sylvan or Roman....

Help! Pick your favourite/ the one that is least offensive to you if not your style...

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/01/2018 20:01

I have a Luther. 😄

ChocolateCrunch · 27/01/2018 20:48

I pick Cassius, with Roman second

RapunzelLetDownYourHair7 · 27/01/2018 21:08

Love Lucian and Rowan.

I know of a 3 year old Cassius and he struggles to say his name. It's quite difficult for a child to say.

RapunzelLetDownYourHair7 · 27/01/2018 21:09

Just seen your last post. I like:

  1. Sylvan the most
  2. Roman
  3. Luther
  4. Cassius
ewanthesheepiloveyou · 27/01/2018 21:12

I love Luther - it gets my vote.
Then Cassius, then Roman.
Sylvan sounds lovely but is very feminine to my ear.

BewareOfDragons · 27/01/2018 21:25

Roman is the only one of the remaining 4 that I like

Luther, makes me think of Lex Luther
Cassius, a child with this name has put me well off it)
Sylvan, agree with another poster that it sounds feminine)

Chocolateyescakeyes · 27/01/2018 21:55

Definitely Roman.

Joeybee · 27/01/2018 22:32

Cassius - I like this name and think it could totally work. A lot of people would associate it with the boxer though, although I'm sure they'd get over that.
Egon No. Sounds like a cheap TV brand or something.
Lucien/an - Not for me. it's a bit weak sounding.
Luther - Nope because of the TV show.
Loudon - God No! Go with Louis or London or something as an alternative.
Atlas - I like this name, I'd never thought of it as a name until the past year or so, but it totally works.
Roman - YES!
Rowan - A bit...meh.
Remus(Remy) - LOVE it, but for me there's too strong a Harry Potter association.

pipilangstrumpf · 27/01/2018 23:06

I really like Quentin, Roman and Cassius and think they go well with Orson

Ikeameatballs · 27/01/2018 23:13

Ok,

I like Roman best as a stand alone name but think that Luther and Cassius sound best as part of your sib-set. It's the endings of a Roman and Orson that I don't like together but think each name is great on it's own. This may or may not bother you.

Really dislike Sylvan as it reminds me of Sylvanian families.

bunbunny · 28/01/2018 00:54

I wanted Ptolemy for the dc but was vetoed by dh. Reckon it could have ace a good range of nicknames from PT/Pete to Tol or Toly/Tolly to lemy.

Would work well with Orson and Pandora too.

ladybirdsaredotty · 28/01/2018 10:57

Roman Smile

FizzyGreenWater · 28/01/2018 11:00

Cassius or Roman of your final choices, but would probably prefer Rollo to Roman.
