Teilo

My husband really likes the name Teilo for a boy (a Welsh saint name, and we do have links, so not completely random) but I think it would constantly be misheard as Taylor or be misspelt. Any thoughts?

Pronounced How, OP? Tee-Lo? Tay-Lo? Ty-Lo?

littlebid · 15/10/2017 19:58

Tay-low

I like it. It's quite like Tayto (which is a very popular Irish crisp) but if you're not in Ireland I wouldn't worry about that. Go for it. Much nicer than Taylor.

MikeUniformMike · 15/10/2017 20:05

I like it. It would be nice as a middle name too if you don't use it as a first name.

Mrsknackered · 16/10/2017 08:48

I like it!

It's cool, unusual but not too wacky.

Serin · 16/10/2017 14:40

Love it.

sonlypuppyfat · 16/10/2017 14:43

I like it my DS has a very welsh name just a jumble of consonants and we've never lived in Wales, I've a Welsh dad and we love his name

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 16/10/2017 14:54

Really nice, OP. Smile

NinonDeLenclos · 16/10/2017 15:33

Love Welsh names and I've never heard of it - go for it. Also I like names ending in o.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 16/10/2017 15:39

I had to say it a few times out loud (try THAT when you're strap hanging on a bus with a phone in one hand) but...I like it!

DramaAlpaca · 16/10/2017 15:57

I've never heard it before. I like it a lot, it's very nice.

littlebid · 16/10/2017 17:23

Ah wow, I was expecting more thumbs-down. Maybe he has a better ear than I think! Thanks :-)

I like it a lot.

Liadain · 16/10/2017 17:27

Also reminded me of Tayto crisps. I like it a lot, though!

SummatFishyEre · 16/10/2017 17:29

I like it

SuperFurrySasquatch · 16/10/2017 17:33

Would be pronounced Ty-low here as in Llandeilo.
I like it.

FizzyGreenWater · 16/10/2017 18:04

Yes very oten depending on accent would sound more like Tie-lo. Lovely name though, not seen often now.

I like Teifion too.

FizzyGreenWater · 16/10/2017 18:05

...which would be sort of Tie-vee-on

Jooni · 16/10/2017 18:07

It’s nice. I like the sound of this one too ^

UnapologeticallyUnhinged · 16/05/2018 22:24

Did you use the name?! My cat is called Teilo! I know that’s not very exciting but as I don’t have kids it’s as near as I’m gonna get!

BigcatLittlecat · 16/05/2018 22:26

It's pronounced more Tie-Low around here too! Somewhere between Tie and Tay really! Love it!

buttercup54321 · 17/05/2018 03:57

Quite pleasant really though I think it will get confused with Taylor.

RedDwarves · 17/05/2018 04:00

I like it.
