2- mad-e-Lin
3- mad-e-line

mad-uh-len
mad-uh-lynn
mad-uh-line

SuperBeagle · 15/10/2017 09:36

Madeleine is mad-eh-len.

Madeline is mad-eh-line (to rhyme with wine).

Madelyn is mad-eh-lyn.

The difference between Madeleine and Madelyn is negligible, though.

NannyR · 15/10/2017 09:39

Madeleine and Madelyn - almost the same pronunciation, len/lyn, Madeline - with line at the end.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 15/10/2017 09:44

Madeleine - Mad-e-line
Madelyn - Mad-a-lyn
Madeline - Mad-e-line

KarateKitten · 15/10/2017 09:47

Clearly from the above they will all be pronounced interchangeably.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/10/2017 09:51

All the same.

rachrach2 · 15/10/2017 09:57

I’d automatically pronounce them all the same way unless I was told otherwise.

Sophronia · 15/10/2017 10:32

All the same way.

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 15/10/2017 10:38

Madeleine - mad-a-lean
Madelyn - mad-a-lin
Madeline - mad-a-line

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/10/2017 12:53

Mada lean ? Surely that's just wrong Confused

Smoliver · 15/10/2017 13:15

Madeleine - Mad-a-line
Madelyn - Mad-a-lin
Madeline - Mad-eh-lin

HoratioNightboy · 15/10/2017 14:03

Madeleine - Mad-uh-lane
Madelyn - Mad-uh-lin
Madeline - Mad-uh-leen

AmysTiara · 15/10/2017 14:05

All the same way.

I've never heard Madeleine pronounced Mada lean. Surely that's not correct.

Ttbb · 15/10/2017 14:07
  1. Who knows?
  2. Mad/e/Lin
3.Mad/e/lyne
ladybirdsaredotty · 15/10/2017 14:19

Madeleine: No one has ever pronounced this differently to 'Mad-uh-lin' in my hearing (and I hear it a lot Wink). The other 2 I'd probably pronounce the same, although Madeline could also have the 'line' pronunciation, like the books. But I'd just go with how the parents/child pronounce it Smile

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 15/10/2017 14:30

The only Madaleine I've known was Canadian, but she definitely pronounces it Mad-a-lean

DramaAlpaca · 15/10/2017 14:31

All the same way.

Montacute · 15/10/2017 15:19

I pronounce them all the same way.

Montacute · 15/10/2017 15:19

Which is mad-uh-lun

euanthesheepiloveyou · 15/10/2017 20:10

All the same. Mad-uh-lyn.

UsernameInvalid66 · 17/10/2017 18:26

I'd pronounce all three of them mad-a-lin unless I knew that particular person pronounced it a different way, but I like the look of the Madeleine spelling best.

NotAgainYoda · 17/10/2017 18:28

The same:

Mad -eh-lin

Rufffles · 17/10/2017 18:33

I am a Madeleine, and I think I'd probably spell the way I pronounce it 'Maddalin' (with a very short 'a' sound between the second d and the l.

ScarletSienna · 17/10/2017 22:21

All the same way; Mad-uh-lin (with the uh being being short).
