I know it's one of those marmite names.

Currently 35w pregnant and Millicent has been 'the one' since early days. Now I feel like over thought it and I might not like it anymore. Gah!

Middle name would be grace. Surname has 2 S sounds in though and I'm worried it's too much.

Fwiw, she would mostly be known as Millie so undecided whether to just go for Millie as a standalone name.

Help and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

It's OK...and your child can always use the middle name if they prefer.

I love it.

When names like Beatrice and Mabel are popular i much prefer Millicent.

TealStar · 11/10/2017 20:14

It's the name that I would associate with a tweedy headmistress from the 1930s. If it floats your boat though... go for it 😄

I like Millicent, not keen on Millie as a whole name, nickname isn't so bad though you could try Lissy for something different.

I knew a couple of Millies (both millicents) growing up. The problem with Millicent is that it is a little girls name. Neither Millicent nor Millie really work on a woman.

SuperBeagle · 11/10/2017 21:44

Don't like it.

Millipedes and Millicent Bullstrode.

bridgetreilly · 11/10/2017 22:03

I don't really like it, tbh. I much prefer Camilla if you want Millie.

MollyHuaCha · 11/10/2017 22:06

Ttbb but what about the wonderful headmistress of St Trinians School for Girls, Miss Millicent Fritton?

I love it, and am surprised it's not more popular - epitome of granny chic. And yy to Milly-Molly-Mandy. Millicent Margaret Amanda is the BEST name ever.
