Rose is getting rave reviews on other threads. Rightly so.

What do we think of Roselyn for example?

I don't like Roselyn.
Its pronounced completely differently in my accent and doesn't have the same 'Rose' pronunciation, its more of a Roz-A-Lyn which sounds very dated to me.

Rose is lovely in itself though.
Primrose is probably a bit twee and Rosemary is a little dated too. Rosie is fine for a small child or old lady but I find it a little odd for teenagers especially if theyre anything but 'Rose like'.

I don't like Roselyn or Rosalind or variants.

I think the loveliest Rose name is Rosa. Simple, classy, just lovely.

I've partial to Rosanna, too.

NikiBabe · 08/10/2017 11:26

Are you sure you;re not thinking of Rosalyn or Rosalind? That would have a Z sound for sure.

I knew a Roselyn and it was pronounced Rose-a-lyn.

No Aunt Roselyn definitely pronounces her name Roz-A-Lyn if she uses her full name. She prefers Lyn generally though.

As I said before in my accent that's how it would be said. I wouldn't have thought to say Rose-A-Lyn. If you like it and want to pronounce it that way then that's what you should do and be prepared to spend the next few years correcting peoples pronunciation/spelling
