April would love your input

We love the name April but I've just seen it on someone else's list and everyone is saying on her thread you shouldn't name a baby April unless it's born in April. Does everyone agree with this? I never thought that would be a problem because I personally think it's a bit TOO obvious to call an April baby April. What does everyone else think? Can a baby NOT born in April be named April?

Absolutely!
I love April, both the sound and the connotations, lovely name.

LadyPug · 04/10/2017 15:57

Thank you Rick

I love the name too. I know a summer born April and it has never caused any problems at all. She's just a lovely little girl called April.

MollyHuaCha · 04/10/2017 16:06

Lovely name, no matter when your birthday is.

Chaffinch4 · 04/10/2017 16:07

I agree, a lovely name for a girl, whenever she happens to have been born.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 04/10/2017 16:10

Sorry but I do think the month of April has to be significant to you for you to use it for your baby. eg When she was born, conceived or even your Wedding date, but to just use it randomly would be strange, IMO.
Like a baby born in December named Summer would just sound daft.
However as I a always like to stress facts are one thing. My opinion is very much another

LadyPug · 04/10/2017 16:12

Ah yes, I understand that spider both mine and dps birthdays are in April but she wouldn't be born in April

But what if baby April was being named after a grandmother called April, would she still need to be born in the month of April for this to be okay?

It wouldn’t occur to me to wonder if an April was April born or a June was June born. Or why a black haired man was called Rory.

LadyPug · 04/10/2017 16:15

That makes sense Sqoosh literally almost everyone on this other thread was saying it wasn't right if not born in April!

Well then the month is significant to you so that's fine and also good point about a child being named after a family member.

CarlottaJo · 04/10/2017 16:28

I loved April and then I remembered our middle name for a girl was May! Think it's a beautiful name x

AliceLostInWonderland321 · 04/10/2017 16:39

'Month' babies have to born in that month IMO, e.g. April born in April, June born in June.

The same with seasons, e.g. Summer should be born in Summer.

It just seems silly if a baby April has been born in December, for example.

BossWitch · 04/10/2017 16:40

Love the name. And outside of the baby phase of her life, how many people are going to think about what month she was born in?

ChocolateCrunch · 04/10/2017 16:43

April is a lovely name and I don't think it should only be used for April-born babies. You might get some people ask if she was born in that month, but just say you chose it because you liked it.

BTW, I know a lady called June, who's birthday is in October. And lots of girls have the middle name May, without being May babes.

ChimpyChops · 04/10/2017 17:09

Love April. Absolutely love it.

ChimpyChops · 04/10/2017 17:10

Also, wouldn't matter to me when she was born. Still love it.

PandorasXbox · 04/10/2017 17:16

I find it a bit dated. It’s not offensive but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

AliceLostInWonderland321 · 04/10/2017 17:24

I agree with Pandora.

user1459464195 · 04/10/2017 17:55

I really like April and don't think it matters when she was born or conceived. It is especially nice though if the month has particular significance for you.

RiaOverTheRainbow · 04/10/2017 18:02

It's a lovely name, but I do think it's a little odd for a non-April baby. Same with season and day-of-the-week names. But only a little odd, not ridiculous.

CarlottaJo · 04/10/2017 18:18

I feel the opposite to most I think, I'd be less inclined to name a baby a month name of it was born that month, I definitely think April, May and June have been around long enough to just be stand alone names! X

user1499786242 · 04/10/2017 18:55

Beautiful name x

TheScottishPlay · 04/10/2017 18:56

Love it. I know an April born in March.

Joinourclub · 04/10/2017 19:05

I don't think it matters what month she's born in. Most names have meanings that don't necessarily apply. I've known plain Bellas, Phillipas that don't like horses, Catherine's that are anything but pure,

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/10/2017 21:02

Call your little baby April, it doesn't matter when she's born.
It's a very lovely name. 😄
