Are Orson and Oscar too similar for brothers?

They do sound similar with the o and s but if you like them then consider how often you will be introducing them together...unless twins which might be regularly

Ummmmgogo · 03/10/2017 20:03

no it's fine

Lozmatoz · 03/10/2017 20:04

Thanks. Not twins, there’ll be 5 years difference and a sister in the middle.

I think it's too similar sorry

GhoulsFold · 03/10/2017 20:15

Yeah, I think its too similar

Sophronia · 03/10/2017 20:17

I think they’re fine

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 03/10/2017 20:21

Hmmmm I'd say borderline. You might end up saying Orscar and Oscon sometimes. I know brothers called Alistair and Oliver. It didn't seem all that similar when the names were announced, but it is actually a bit confusing when they're together and their parents do sometimes say, "Ollister... I mean Alliver... I mean...", when they're a bit flustered (they're always flustered tbh, but that's another story).

Anyway, depends how much you like the names and how much the similarity would annoy you.

I like both names fwiw.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/10/2017 20:22

I think they're too similar.

MikeUniformMike · 03/10/2017 20:23

They're fine. What's the DD's name?

pilates · 03/10/2017 20:24

Yes

PandaCat · 03/10/2017 20:54

I think so, names are easy to mix up even when they aren't similar so just bare that in mind. I mix up my DD with our cat quite often and their names are completely different 🙈

pipilangstrumpf · 04/10/2017 07:46

Yes too similar.

Happinesssssss · 04/10/2017 07:48

Yes too similar. I would never remember which is which. (I know a family of similar M names and I don't use their names because I get them mixed up.)

BertramTheWalrus · 04/10/2017 07:48

I don't think they're similar enough to sound odd for brothers, but you will get mixed up when you're stressed/in a rush etc.

SuburbanRhonda · 04/10/2017 07:51

Have you got any other names on your list, OP?

SuperBeagle · 04/10/2017 10:21

Yes, far too similar.

They're the sort of names you'd recommend to someone if they asked for suggestions based on Oscar or Orson. For example, if someone asked for names similar to Oscar, people would likely suggest Orson.

Glumglowworm · 04/10/2017 21:41

Yes they're too similar

flowerygirl · 06/10/2017 02:27

Defo too similar

stopbeingadramallama · 06/10/2017 02:34
