Audrey. Makes me think of Audrey Hepburn and Audrey Tautou, which are good associations.

Mabel may be quite pretty objectively, but still seems old-ladyish to me (maybe because it was actually the name of one of my grandmothers). How about Amabel? Amabella? (like in 'Big Little Lies')

I love Mabel but they'll get gravity falls jokes their whole life

AnnieAnoniMouse · 02/10/2017 03:51

Tbh neither would be my choice, but of the two, Mabel by a long, long, way.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/10/2017 04:27

MotherofKitties · 02/10/2017 04:37

Whoops; Mabel not Mable! Grin

DandySeaLioness · 02/10/2017 04:48

Audrey is lovely

Needalifeoverhaul · 02/10/2017 04:59

Audrey...just because I love Audrey Hepburn Smile

WanderingTrolley1 · 02/10/2017 05:09

Mabel is so pretty.

SerfTerf · 02/10/2017 05:31

Mabel.

PenelopeFlintstone · 02/10/2017 05:38

Mabel is terrible. Audrey beats it just because it's become fashionable again. Neither have a pretty sound though.

KingPrawnOkay · 02/10/2017 06:09

I don’t like either, very old-fashioned names. I know the old ladies with those names must have been babies at some point but I don’t know of any child called Mabel or Audrey!

Ionarocks · 02/10/2017 06:30

Audrey

Frustratedboarder · 02/10/2017 06:41

I don't really like either as they both sound like old lady named but you know what, several conversations I've had fairly recently with 17-25yr olds (I'm 42 but work in an industry alongside a lot of youngsters) have made me realise what We consider old and and dated does not even occur to them to think of as such - they are so far down the line it is all Jesu knew to them iyswim? Like fashion, music, film, books - all the 'oldies' or classics to their generation are just unknowns (I've had some quite surreal conversations!)! So for your daughter's generation it will be even more so - Especially as to be perfectly Frank all the Original old lady Mabels and Sisters will Definitely be dead by the time they are of an age where their peers are consciously 'noticing' each others names.

What I'm trying to say is ignore the 'that's old fashioned" brigade and choose whichever goes best? Although as an afterthought, as someone who Always shortened people's names as a child think about the abbreviation sounds too!

stopbeingadramallama · 02/10/2017 06:42

Audrey - Mabel is horrible.

Frustratedboarder · 02/10/2017 06:42

Oops scuse typos, too early!! 🙄

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/10/2017 07:14

Both lovely. I prefer Mabel but you can't go wrong with either in my eyes

OyyVeyy · 02/10/2017 07:28

Neither. Sorry OP 😐

RoseAndRose · 02/10/2017 07:28

Sukitakeitoff · 02/10/2017 07:38

I love Mabel - such a pretty name to be without being too flowery or fluffy.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/10/2017 08:37

Mabel is much prettier than Audrey.

SuperBeagle · 02/10/2017 09:01

Audrey.

I think Mabel is really dire.
