If I like Nicholas

What else?

I like

Edward (can't use as DS1 is called Edward)
Nicholas (nephew's name)
Hugo (doesn't go with surname)
Louie (ditto)
Wilfred (DH says no way)

I don't really like

William (just too blah)
James (too commonly heard)
Thomas (as above)
Oliver (too common)
Samuel (it is ok, but so many lf them.)

Any suggestions ? Smile

Alexander? That's what I've chosen so be gentle Grin

Mercutioandtybalt · 01/10/2017 10:44

I like it! Smile I'm not sure it is my son, though ... can't explain it!

Francis

Tobias

Peter

PommeRouge · 01/10/2017 10:57

Henry

Mercutioandtybalt · 01/10/2017 10:58

I'm not keen on Francis. I am married to the second Grin not really keen on Peter, no good reason, just that a boy I was at primary school with was called Peter and I didn't like him!

Dominic
Quentin
Reuben
Peter

Mercutioandtybalt · 01/10/2017 10:58

Henry doesn't go with our surname, a shame, as I like it.

Not keen on Dominic, Reuben or Quentin

This is hard, I know, sorry I am fussy!

Angus

Mercutioandtybalt · 01/10/2017 11:00

I quite like it, but it is a bit too Scottish. We aren't Scottish!

Michael
Gabriel

George

LeonoraFlorence · 01/10/2017 11:01

Alexander springs to mind. Or Matthew. I love Nicholas, it's a family name but I have 5 DDs so haven't used it :)

Mercutioandtybalt · 01/10/2017 11:01

Not keen on Michael and I really don't like Gabriel.

Andrew is underused
Christopher
Michael
Martin
Malcolm ( I think I am the only person who thinks this is a nice name.)

PommeRouge · 01/10/2017 11:02

Arthur

Mercutioandtybalt · 01/10/2017 11:02

I'm hoping for another girl as I don't like ANY boys' names!

George is okay ... it falls into the Oliver, Thomas, James category for me.

OP posts:
PommeRouge · 01/10/2017 11:04

Robin

Mercutioandtybalt · 01/10/2017 11:04

Arthur is too old man sounding for me, and I'm not keen on Andrew - lots of boys at primary called Andrew, Michael, Christopher, Stephen, Mark and so on.

I quite like Sebastian.

Mercutioandtybalt · 01/10/2017 11:05

Robin is a bit girly for me. I know it can go either way but I just think "girl." Same with Rowan.

Timothy

stuckinthehouse · 01/10/2017 11:05

To me, Nicholas is very much a name of my generation (I'm 30).

I would therefore put it in the same category as:
Andrew
Philip
Jonathan
Christopher
Peter
Simon
Benjamin
Matthew
Paul

Yika · 01/10/2017 11:06

Jonathan
Guy
Robert
Alistair
Piers

Really like Nicholas

Mercutioandtybalt · 01/10/2017 11:07

I didn't kmow any Nicholas' growing up, funnily enough, although I know several of the others. I am a few years older than you though.

Timothy is okay but sounds weird with our surname.

Also Steven, Timothy, Alexander and Michael
