I like Benjamin. Names generally will be shortened and Ben is one of my favourite names. My sons middle name is William and I've come to not like it that much over the years!

NikiBabe · 28/09/2017 00:40

Benjamin. Gorgeous name and great nn potential. Benjy is so cute on a young boy, Ben great on an older boy.

SuperBeagle · 28/09/2017 01:24

Benjamin.

HoratioNightboy · 28/09/2017 01:27

I prefer Little Weed.

mum2be2boys · 28/09/2017 02:02

I like both, but prefer Benjamin :-)

Sophronia · 28/09/2017 07:21

William. I like Benjamin but not Ben.

pipilangstrumpf · 28/09/2017 07:49

I prefer Benjamin. William is too ‘willi’ for me.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/09/2017 07:55

I like both alot

DD would of been Benjamin nn Benji if she was a bit but I don't love it anymore

I like William nn Liam but not so keen on Will

I think I'd choose Benjamin as it's less popular

saritah · 28/09/2017 08:24

Both are lovely. Benjamin is probably less popular at the minute, but I think Benjamins are more likely to get shortened to Ben, whereas I know quite a few Williams who aren't Wills.

Classic names all the way :)

WhatwouldRuthdo · 28/09/2017 08:26

Benjamin (completely biased!)

Eminybob · 28/09/2017 08:39

William. I have one so totally biased.
I do like Benjamin but Ben is a bit bland. Will is much cooler.

Eminybob · 28/09/2017 08:41

Oh and Horatio it took me a minute, but lol.
I was just thinking oooh could we have Benjamin for dc2 then thought ah no!

MollyHuaCha · 28/09/2017 08:50

Definitely William, it's a lovely name.

Benjamin is a perfectly lovely name too, but... global travel and business between different nationalities is likely to increase in coming years. Sadly the word 'ben' means stupid/slow-witted in Chinese. For me that would be a good reason not to choose it. It would be like a Chinese man coming to a U.K. business meeting and introducing himself with a handshake, 'Pleased to meet you, my name is Stupid'.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/09/2017 08:51

Will is lovely.

I quite like Ben.

But William is much nicer than Benjamin.

pipilangstrumpf · 28/09/2017 09:03

With Will/William I’d worry about the Willy teasing.

Ben is nicer imo.

pipilangstrumpf · 28/09/2017 09:04

And will is s verb, Will, will you...Grin

pipilangstrumpf · 28/09/2017 09:06

Or Will will come?Grin

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/09/2017 09:17

Ben

MammieBear · 28/09/2017 09:38

Oh it's a tough one both utterly classic it I had to pick between them I think it would be William.

Smoliver · 28/09/2017 09:38

I prefer Benjamin

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 28/09/2017 09:42

William, but I like both.

HappydaysArehere · 28/09/2017 09:43

Really like Benjamin although my dad was a William but always known as Bill.

Montsti · 28/09/2017 10:07

I love both and would've used one of them if I'd had another boy...

Difficult to choose but probably Benjamin. Do you have any other children? What would your girls names be?
