William or Benjamin?

I like Benjamin. Names generally will be shortened and Ben is one of my favourite names. My sons middle name is William and I've come to not like it that much over the years!

Benjamin. Gorgeous name and great nn potential. Benjy is so cute on a young boy, Ben great on an older boy.

Benjamin.

I prefer Little Weed.

I like both, but prefer Benjamin :-)

William. I like Benjamin but not Ben.

I prefer Benjamin. William is too ‘willi’ for me.

DD would of been Benjamin nn Benji if she was a bit but I don't love it anymore

I think I'd choose Benjamin as it's less popular

Both are lovely. Benjamin is probably less popular at the minute, but I think Benjamins are more likely to get shortened to Ben, whereas I know quite a few Williams who aren't Wills.

William. I have one so totally biased.
I do like Benjamin but Ben is a bit bland. Will is much cooler.

Oh and Horatio it took me a minute, but lol.
I was just thinking oooh could we have Benjamin for dc2 then thought ah no!

Definitely William, it's a lovely name.

Benjamin is a perfectly lovely name too, but... global travel and business between different nationalities is likely to increase in coming years. Sadly the word 'ben' means stupid/slow-witted in Chinese. For me that would be a good reason not to choose it. It would be like a Chinese man coming to a U.K. business meeting and introducing himself with a handshake, 'Pleased to meet you, my name is Stupid'.

Will is lovely.

I quite like Ben.

But William is much nicer than Benjamin.

With Will/William I’d worry about the Willy teasing.

Ben is nicer imo.

Oh it's a tough one both utterly classic it I had to pick between them I think it would be William.

Really like Benjamin although my dad was a William but always known as Bill.

I love both and would've used one of them if I'd had another boy...
