No

Alisvolatpropiis · 25/09/2017 21:24

Do you have cultural links which make you inclined to choosing that spelling rather than Theodore?

ichbineinstasumer · 25/09/2017 21:25

I think if you are German Theodor is pronounced Teodor, but the name is still Theodor. If people who aren't German try to pronounce Teodor I'm not sure it will sound the way you intend

HelloLondon · 25/09/2017 21:25

Yes, but looking for opinions (as we don't live in the 'original' country)

Do you live in the UK? It doesn't really travel well tbh

HelloLondon · 25/09/2017 21:26

Yes, we live in the U.K.

I think it's lovely! Especially if you have links with a country where it's spelled that way. But even if not, why not? Names are spelled all sorts of ways now, and it's really cute for a baby but a man can grow into it.

NearLifeExperience · 25/09/2017 23:07

It ends in "odor", which would put me off.

Theodore is nicer.

Alisvolatpropiis · 25/09/2017 23:09

If you have cultural links for that spelling, then go for it!

reallybadidea · 25/09/2017 23:11

I'm not convinced it travels well.

ladybirdsaredotty · 26/09/2017 09:46

I think it's fine. I know a Thea pronounced Tay-a due to parental background. Everyone copes.

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 26/09/2017 10:56

It's quite nice, but Theodores seem to be everywhere ATM, so this could just end up blending in with all the Theodores. What are the usual shortenings? I quite like Teo for short.

MarmiteAndPB · 26/09/2017 11:21

I think that if you have cultural reasons for the spelling, then it's fine regardless of which country you are currently in. I sometimes wish that we had a legitimate reason to pick a Russian or Italian name!
