Nickname for amelie

Both dh and I love the name Amelie, but we are also quite fond of nicknames. Dd1 is Harriet but we call her Hattie.

Any suggestions? I don't like leelee, do others think Mimi or Mila could work?

The Amelie we know goes by Ammi quite a lot. Rhymes with Hammy. I like it.

Ammie or Mimi would be the ones that seem most obvious to me.

Amelie and Hattie are quite similar sounding though.

A friend's DD is Amelie, they call her Milly

I have an Amelie and my dad calls her Ams. A nickname tends to arrive organically. My nicknames for her have nothing to do with her name!

I think both Mila and Mimi would work fine :) as would Ammie and Milly! As another person who likes a pre picked nickname I think introduce it straight away and everyone will follow suit. I personally would pick Mimi as it's a bit more unusual so you have a quite popular name in Amelie and an unusual nickname in Mimi...best of both worlds :)

However I agree with a pp that nicknames often arrive of their own accord rather than being the ones you'd planned.

A friends child got Lee when she was little. Then started calling her LeeLee just as a joke.

Then it stuck when they saw this perfume! LeeLee did seem quite cute on a small child.
