I think this sounds so pretty for a girl, what are everyone else's thoughts?

Cute! Although I think I prefer Alva.

PlasticPatty · 23/09/2017 12:13

Elvi. Clothes in large sizes.

LadyPug · 23/09/2017 12:14

Ooooh I don't know Alva! Got a friend with an Alba so don't want to be too similar though

It sounds made up to me, but nice made up.

RusholmeRuffian · 23/09/2017 12:15

Baby eel

LadyPug · 23/09/2017 12:17

I found it online but then when I researched it, turns out it's an actual name and has been for a while (some elderly women called it so been around a while)

Sounds like elf to me... Nice though

LadyPug · 23/09/2017 12:23

That's what it means Mammie, elf or white. I'm going to add it to my list! Still think I prefer our front runner though, Hazel!

Yes, it's an actual name. I know two in their mid twenties. It's pretty imo, though perhaps not in an accent that'll turn into Elver. No worse than Thea in that regard!

Flywheel · 23/09/2017 12:25

I know an Elva in her late 40s. Definitely not made up. I really like it

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/09/2017 18:27

I think it's lovely, very pretty OP ! 😄

villainousbroodmare · 23/09/2017 18:41

Like it.

TatianaLarina · 23/09/2017 18:50

Prefer Elvira. Elva for short.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/09/2017 18:51

I've seen it spelt Ylva.

Jooni · 23/09/2017 21:44

It's simple and sweet. I know a (French) Elvire; I think that's gorgeous!

Yika · 23/09/2017 21:55

Seeing this name transported me straight back to my childhood and an artistic friend of my parents' called Elva. A lovely person and a very pretty, unusual name.

verystressedmum · 23/09/2017 22:28

It's a nice name it sounds like something to do with elves.
It's also Swedish for the number 11 but not many people will know that.

HeyRoly · 23/09/2017 22:30

I just think of eels. An elver is a baby eel, as mentioned upthread.

Wolfiefan · 23/09/2017 22:31

Yep. Elver.

treaclesoda · 23/09/2017 22:34

The only Elva I have ever known was a man.

I think it sounds nice for a girl though.
