As a nickname?

Greenday90 · 22/09/2017 14:35

Emmy

BlueMuffins · 22/09/2017 14:36

She's 2 months and an Emmeline, but gets Emmie and Emmy and I want to know which way is best to spell it!

Surely when you write it you write her full name?

BlueMuffins · 22/09/2017 14:39

Hmm I'm talking about things like Facebook, etc. does it even matter!?

I just want to know which way you'd spell it Hmm

Reasonable question OP, I'd say Emmy. Gorgeous name.

BlueMuffins · 22/09/2017 14:41

Emmy

TangledUpInGin · 22/09/2017 14:45

Emme???

BlueMuffins · 22/09/2017 14:48

The thing is Emme (in my head) seems like it would be said as 1 syllable, like Elle. Which is a bit silly as she's Emmeline.

I'd say Emmie

Tempranillo · 22/09/2017 15:21

Emmie

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 22/09/2017 19:06

I prefer Emmie, but don't know why! Just the way it looks I think. Emmy looks like the award to me!

nooka · 22/09/2017 19:21

So this is for when you are referring to your dd in writing by her diminutive yes? I think it's entirely up to you :) For me looking at Emmeline I think Emmie feels more natural because there is an 'i' and an 'e' in the name and no 'y'. It's a pretty marginal preference though and I'm sure everyone else will just use whatever form you choose.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 22/09/2017 19:29

I'd spell it Emi or Emmi I think!

DD's friend is Emelia known as Emi. She writes Emi in cards etc., and her mum always writes Emi too. Not sure why writing a nn down is an odd concept!

I have a Thomas. I can assure you I've written Tom many more times than the full Thomas over the years (he's 16 now).

early30smum · 22/09/2017 20:10

Emmy

Thornyrose7 · 22/09/2017 21:56

Emmy

PinkFlamingo888 · 22/09/2017 22:20

I like Emmie personally for the same reason as someone else said about there being an i and an e in Emmeline but not a y. I prefer the two ms as well because again Emmeline has two ms.

Sophronia · 23/09/2017 01:20

Emmie

doubleshotespresso · 23/09/2017 01:29

Emmy reads best to me....

Emma reads as very American in its spelling (but no idea why?!?), so I guess your location might explain this one....

Emmeline is a lovely name btw Grin

SuperBeagle · 23/09/2017 01:34

I have an Emilia and she's Emmy for short.

I just like Emmy more than Emmie. That's the extent of my reasoning. I really didn't like Emi/Emmi.
