My favourite girls names are Lydia, Matilda and Sophia. The middle name we want to use is after my dh's grandma and is Alice and our surname begins with a D.

I can't use the initials MAD or SAD, can I? Is LAD okay?! If not, which other name could I put and where?

Sneak another mn in there?

This wouldn't bother me. To be honest I have two DDs and when I put their initials on their clothes etc I just put the initials for their first and last name, which is what I think most people do. So in your example it would just simply be MD, SD, LD. Could you not just do that?

Would you consider using Alice as a first name? It's lovely.

Otherwise, as pp said, the initials wouldn't worry me too much. Or stick in another one. Matilda Alice Jane Surname for example.

You could use Alice as first name on Birth certificate then call by middle name.

Eleanor Alice
Isobel Alice
Jemima Alice

Or, as others have said, chuck another name in, do you have any more family names you could use? Favourite flower etc?

Matilda Rose Alice is lovely.

It doesn't matter. Who really k it's all the middle names of their friends and rakes the time to work out what they are. Use the names you love.
