Definitely too similar.

MummysMaison · 12/09/2017 13:15

Xavier and Alexander?

auratheexplorer · 12/09/2017 13:20

Thats what i actually went with mummys but we have started using xander nn and wondering if it sounds a bit silly!

Can I strongly suggest you don't use the same first initial? I accidentally did because one was to be known by her nickname. Now all formal documents come to A. Surname for both children which is just irritating. It is also annoying for labelling - it might sound cheaper if all your labels are the same but when all your clothes are similar sizes it really helps to have different labels in them. On top of that there are a lot of items that just get labelled by an initial.

SpringBreak · 12/09/2017 13:21

are you a big fan of The XX?

auratheexplorer · 12/09/2017 13:21

Thanks silly they do officially have a different inital so i think i have avoided that problem!

Xavier and Zander? I know a little boy who is just Zander (not short for Alexander)

girlwhowearsglasses · 12/09/2017 13:31

Xavier and Zander (have twins - different initials essential)

hlc123 · 12/09/2017 13:55

I don't think they are too similar

Hersetta427 · 12/09/2017 13:56

yes and too twee

Yourshakraishangingout · 12/09/2017 14:52

Change it to Zander and problem solved...they then don't start with the same letter or have the same initial sound, so in my opinion not similar at all! Also, if they grow up and decide they are too similar then Zander can go by Alex amongst his peers.

TheVanguardSix · 12/09/2017 14:55

I'm sorry.
They sound like Peppa Pig characters.
Xander/Zander/Zoolander
I just don't like it. Sorry. Sad

I don't know any twins with names beginning with the same letter.

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 12/09/2017 15:03

I really don't like twin names that make each twin one half of a cute name unit. It's for the benefit of adults, not for the people involved.

I grew up with one pair of twins with cute twinny names (think Sarah and Sorcha) and have twin friends also a victim of this (think Harry and Barry) - they argue it might as well have been Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and Harry called himself Henry as soon as he was old enough that people listened to him and not his mum, who thought it was adorable.

PotteringAlong · 12/09/2017 15:07

Far too similar.

noitsachicken · 12/09/2017 15:10

Are you saying Xavier with a 'H' sound?
If so I don't think they are too similar, and if your Xander is officially Alexander I don't see it as much of a problem.
Are they already here?

bigbluedustbin · 12/09/2017 15:14

They're not too similar at all. The X is pronounced completely differently for each name (the first like an 'h' sound and the second a 'z' sound).

PotteringAlong · 12/09/2017 15:45

I think most people will pronounce it Zavier and Zander

GeorgeTheHamster · 12/09/2017 15:52

Isn't it Hav ee ay?

theconstantinoplegardener · 12/09/2017 16:01

A bit too Topsy and Tim, in my opinion. The names look confusingly similar and sound similar too (assuming most people pronounce the first one Zavier, which many people would (including me. How do you pronounce it, OP?). Sorry!

Yourshakraishangingout · 12/09/2017 16:17

Think I pronounce Xavier wrong🤔🙈

Tinty · 12/09/2017 16:24

How about Lexi for Alexander as a nickname. My DS has a friend called Alexander and the all call him Lex now he is an adult but as a baby he was called Lexi
