For a friend! She heard this name used in the US and loves it but doesn't want to use Lolita... what else could it be short for? She's at 7 months so a bit of time to spare :)

I like it!

I know someone called Leta (that's her full name).

How about...

Adelita
Alita
Angelita
Carmelita
Julita
Lilita
Margalita
Melita
Perlita
Talita

Lolita is short for Dolores originally.

I've not come across it as just Lita, and I can see the appeal. High chance of mispronunciation and/or misspelling - lie-ta v lee-ta - if that would bother your friend.

A lot of suggestions here for names ending in -lita if she definitely wants something longer or similar-sounding. I like Adelita or Julita.

I know an Olita who is also known as Lita.

NoSquirrels · 11/09/2017 23:33

I think as a proper full name it is spelled Leta.

I like it. It reminds me of Lita the WWF wrestler from Team Xtreme! She was cool.
