Help with girls names?

Currently TTC with my fiance and we already have our boys names sorted, we just can't quite settle on a girls name. We both would really appreciate your opinions on these names. We've narrowed it down to 5 names that we really like.

Selina
Leigh
Harper
Michelle
Brianna

Could you please give us your opinions on these names and perhaps your favourite one(s)?

Quite a varied list there. Are you American?

I like Harper the best.

PinkDonuts · 09/09/2017 19:13

Thank you very much. Nope from the UK haha x

Selina for me, I like it spelled Selena though. Serena is also nice?

GreenTulips · 09/09/2017 19:16

Rhianna
Orianna
Tara
Clara
Jeanie

PinkDonuts · 09/09/2017 19:25

Thank you for replying but I don't like any of those names really x

Harper the others sound a bit American trailer park.

Bellaposy · 09/09/2017 19:35

Harper for me. I like Selena though - I think Selina would get a lot of different pronunciations (Se-Leena, Se-lin-a, Se-line-a). The others do sound very American.

PinkDonuts · 09/09/2017 19:35

For Leigh I do much prefer the 'Lee' spelling but people on my last post were complaining about it, even though the spelling is unisex, as is Leigh but that's somehow more acceptable. And I'm not using Lea or Leah they are totally different names x

Selina is nice and could be shortened to Leigh or even Lina (which I love!) I know quite a few Harpers. I'm not keen on the others sorry, I can't picture Michelle on a baby and Brianna reminds me of Teen Mom

MammieBear · 09/09/2017 19:55

Selena
Harper
Not keen on any really but it's your choice.

PinkDonuts · 09/09/2017 20:04

Lee/Leigh, Selina and Harper were my choices. Brianna was mutual since I love the nickname Brie. Michelle is after my fiances sister in law who died last year x

Harper for me

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/09/2017 20:48

Selina

Threeandabit · 09/09/2017 20:54

I like Michelle best.

Liadain · 09/09/2017 21:35

Selina with that spelling always reminds me of semolina.

Harper reminds me of the Beckhams.

Leigh isn't bad.

Michelle is a nice name - very underused now, too! Make sure you clear it with your fiance's brother (assuming that was the husband?) first though. It would be unfair to spring that on someone if they felt it was too raw and painful - or just not what they want.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 09/09/2017 21:48

You're not even pregnant yet and are posting about what to call your baby? I just don't get that.

pringlecat · 09/09/2017 21:58

Michelle - it has a personal significance for you and can be changed in lots of different ways:

  • Chelle
  • Shelly
  • Micha
  • Elle
  • Ellie

Children don't always grow into their given name, so one with lots of options for adaptation is always helpful!

bridgetreilly · 09/09/2017 22:29

In order:
Selina
Harper
Michelle
Leigh
Brianna

But the only one I really like is Selina. Which is a perfectly normal spelling of the name, no need to change it to Selena.

PinkDonuts · 09/09/2017 22:42

GaryBalowsTaxReturn So I can't be excited about becoming pregnant and thinking about what to name our child? Jesus Christ I was asking for opinions, that's all.

Love Selina!

I don't think you should have to be pregnant to talk about / discuss names you like!

PinkDonuts · 09/09/2017 23:30

Thank you! x
