Martin and Martha

I love the name Martha but my dp is called Martin - I think it rules the name out as it could seem a bit naff and potentially confusing. What do you think please?

I think it's ok.

Itsgoodforthegarden · 04/09/2017 20:29

I think it's fine.

Sequence · 04/09/2017 20:57

I'm going to disagree with the others and say it's too similar, sorry.

stellarfox · 04/09/2017 21:28

I think a bit too close as well sorry. Although both lovely names

SuperBeagle · 04/09/2017 21:40

It's a bit too close, IMO.

Liadain · 04/09/2017 21:51

It is a bit close imo. I thought you were talking about siblings originally though, which would be worse!

pilates · 04/09/2017 22:04

Fine

bridgetreilly · 04/09/2017 23:01

I don't really think there's any potential for confusion.

sickofthelies · 04/09/2017 23:22

I think Arthur would present more of a problem Grin

Sophronia · 05/09/2017 01:20

I think it's fine

grufallosfriend · 05/09/2017 07:25

As long as they're not both shortened to Marty!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/09/2017 08:19

I think it's absolutely fine, not naff at all. You are over thinking it ! 😄

SavoyCabbage · 05/09/2017 08:20

I think it's fine too.

blueskyinmarch · 05/09/2017 08:22

They don't sound at all alike even though the first 4 letters are the same. I think it would be fine. I love the name Martha.

Boatmistress17 · 05/09/2017 08:22

The chances of you out shouting for them both to come home is remote so go for it!!

Coey2016 · 05/09/2017 14:41

I think it's ok

Mol1628 · 05/09/2017 14:44

It's fine

Tuesday40 · 05/09/2017 21:51

It's fine, go for it.

pigeondujour · 05/09/2017 22:00

Totally fine. Both are lovely names.

stevensupersquirrel · 07/09/2017 17:18

Thanks everyone. On the whole you're saying go for it, so yes maybe I am over thinking. Thanks again.

My husband has the same name as his father. Which means I don't think this is odd at all Grin

ibentmywookie · 08/09/2017 11:46

It's completely fine, I know of mother/child combos called, Lucy/Luke, Lucy/Louis, and Anne/Anna, nobody bats an eyelid.

Bubblesoup · 08/09/2017 16:33

I agree! You're overthinking it! People purposely call their children matchy names so a parent and child doesn't matter! And they're not even that matchy.
I know parent/child combinations of - Jo and Josie, Emma and Emily, Rick and Vicky.
