Apparently v popular but all I can think of is poor old Jude the Obscure .

Or for the less well read, the Beatles song.

Or Jude Law.

It's a nice name. I don't know anyone called it, but I don't have any children in primary school any more so if it's had a recent surge in popularity I probably missed it :)

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/08/2017 18:56

Sorry, short for Judith.

supersalmon1 · 28/08/2017 19:01

I love it! I have a 2 year old Jude and it just suits him perfectly. I've come across one or two in various baby and toddler groups we've been to over the last couple of years but it's still not that popular. St Jude is the patron saint of lost causes which I quite liked too.

Jupitertomars · 28/08/2017 19:13

Love it. Wanted to call DS this but OH said no.

marmitecrumpets · 28/08/2017 19:27

Love it

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/08/2017 19:29

I like Jude.

He's the Patron Saint of Lost Causes.

Dontwaketheneighbours · 28/08/2017 19:30

Love it, but I have a Jude so I'm biased Grin

AprilShowers16 · 28/08/2017 19:32

Love it but DH said it was too depressing (Jude the obscure) and u felt it had got a bit popular recently

Xocaraic · 28/08/2017 19:33

Love our, always have.

dementedma · 28/08/2017 19:33

I like it. Our ds is Joseph Benjamin Jude.

Eminybob · 28/08/2017 19:40

I love it but it was vetoed by dh.

I also like it for a girl, the first time I heard it, probably even before I heard the Beatles song, was Jude in hollyoaks so that's who I actually think of first.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/08/2017 19:51

I love it but prefer as a shortening of Judah but DH said no :(

I don't know any

AccrualIntentions · 28/08/2017 19:52

I like it too but Jude the Obscure is so relentlessly grim it put me off from considering it!

Jooni · 28/08/2017 20:28

I love it but I do come across quite a few little ones.

I didn't know he was the patron saint of lost causes! That's hilarious!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 28/08/2017 20:41

Love it. My first thought would be Hey Jude or Jude Law.

grufallosfriend · 29/08/2017 22:22

Sounds very feminine. Short for Judy.

inmyshoos · 29/08/2017 22:25

I really like it. Only know one who is about 10. Always think of Jude Law and Hey Jude.

Sophronia · 29/08/2017 22:25

The only Jude I know is a woman in her 50s, short for Judith.

MrsCharlieD · 30/08/2017 02:23

I have a Jude and he's 3. Dh and I are die hard Beatles fans and it's been my favourite name for my than 20 years. I hate that it's getting popular but in reality I know of only 1 other in real life who is 2. I still think it's outside the top 50 though so as long as it stays there I can live with it.

It's a great name, ds really suits it and I've had loads of compliments although everyone was totally expecting it considering how much we love the Beatles.

Marcipex · 30/08/2017 02:39

I only know one, he's called Judy though at secondary school.

Broxibear · 30/08/2017 17:13

My nephews name and I love it.

littlepeas · 30/08/2017 23:46

I have a Jude. He's 9 and we have only encountered another once.

Middleoftheroad · 30/08/2017 23:52

I wanted Jude for my boy but DH did not. We compromised on the original name Hey Jude was written for!

SuperBeagle · 31/08/2017 01:24

I don't like that it comes from Judas, which has very negative connotations.

It also reminds me of the yellow "Jude" badges with the Star of David that Jews were forced to wear in the lead up to/during the Holocaust.

grufallosfriend · 31/08/2017 10:14

Jude is a jew in German
