Help with boys names.....

I have 3 weeks to go but DH and I cannot agree on a boys name. I think we are down to four names but I don't love any of them ( have yet to find a single boys name that I do love!!)

Please may I have your opinions on:
Frederick (Fred)
Franklin (Frank)
Maximilian (Max)
Zachary (Zak)

I'd prefer a one syllable name whereas DH likes something that end -ie (Freddy/frankie)

Please could you rate our shortlist or suggest anything along a similar vein?

Frederick (Fred): perfectly fine, solid name.
Franklin: Hate this, sounds very American. What's wrong with just Frank?
Maximilian: Likewise, dreadful. I like Max, though.
Zachary: I don't love this, very trendy, but okay.

I'm not really sure what the dispute needs to be with your husband, though. If he's Frederick, he can be both Fred and Freddy, etc.

Maximilian! I love it, and Max.

I like Frederick and Zachary too, but not Franklin.

I prefer Zak.

But a compromise name with you and dh could be one which has a short and an 'ie' abbreviation.

Edward - Ed/Eddie Ted/Teddie
Robert - Rob/Robbie
Thomas - Tom/Tommy

Frederick works nicely from your list.

I like Zachary / Zak best of your options.

Also like Robert / Rob / Robbie (or how about Robin / Rob / Robbie?) and Thomas / Tom / Tommy as suggested by pp.

Of your list, my favourite is Zachary. Other suggestions:

John/Johnny

Charles/Charlie

Or some that already end in 'ee' sound:
Henry/Harry

My favourite on your list, is Zachary (Zach).
How about;
Daniel (Danny).
Matthew or Matthias (Matt).
Kristian (Kit).
Solomon (Sol).

Zachary (prefer Zach to Zak) or Maximilian.

Thank you for your help & suggestions....Zachary is my favourite so good to see that is likeable! Also really like some of the suggestions but either have friends with those names or children with those names and DH and I both struggle with a name if we already know someone with it!

Boys names are too hard!!!
