...what else might I like?

I am sold on Ambrose for our baby due imminently, but DH not quite sure - just wondering what else there might be out there we haven't thought of.

Any suggestions?

Josiah?

Ambrose is a great name - solid, traditional, classic and easy to spell! And not overused. What's not to like?

parrotseatemall · 22/08/2017 08:16

Because it's an unusual name (so shouldn't be three in a class) but also a long established name and not younique. I like the sound of it, and it goes with my surname. Also I just like it in the nebulous, unexplainable way that many people feel about names...

Sorry yes, I agree with you. Was replying to the previous poster.

I always recommend www.nymbler.com in these times. It finds names similar to ones you already like, and you can keep refining your preferences.

I don't know, parrot, I just put in my son's (Biblical) name, and it told me I might like Drusilla, Erastus and Armand.Grin

DB is called Ambrose. It's an excellent name, suits him very well. He is large in build and very gregarious. A more mainstream name would be lost on him.

Also, Magnus or Archer.

I like Ambrose Unfortunately, we have an Amber-Rose in our extended family so it's off limits.

Maybe it's hit and miss! Erastus.......there's an interesting one.

Just had to pop in to say I LOVE Ambrose. I have the same problem that my DH isn't keen as doesn't like the "Rose" part and thinks it sounds more of a girl's name (which is silly). I would potentially shorten it to Bram.

We're expecting twins but don't know the genders, seeing as we have the same taste so far as liking Ambrose, what do you think to our current favourites for boy/girl. Front runner for a boy currently is Alexander but to be known as Sacha. Top girl name is Vivienne.

Good luck and keep campaigning for Ambrose I say :)

cheesydoesit · 23/08/2017 14:02

I adore the name Ambrose! It would have been my choice for DC2 if she were a boy.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks, I think it just confirms for me that Ambrose is the one. I'll show DH the thread and see if he's convinced. It's not like he's given me an alternative to choose between!
